Without going into massive detail, I currently have a contract on T Mobile, along with 2 further contracts. One for OH one for DS. All three contracts are in my OH's name.

My "wonderful" OH has been logging onto internet billing and taking note of who I call and text and when. When he couldn't reach me on Monday he took it upon himself to find a friends phone number through online billing and call them to see where I was and why I wasnt answering.

I am slightly furious about all of this and feel like I'm being watched. I have had all this out with OH and requested that my contract be transferred into my name so I have control.

My question is, how easy is this to do and how do I go about sorting out passwords for the online billing?

Thanks

  • If the contract are in his name, then he has the responsibility of changing the passwords. In this case, I can't see him letting you change them so he can't get access....

If the contract is transferred, you will have control as you must log into your account (at least, you should anyway with most networks!) Therefore, you will have the password.

He did agree last night that he would put my contract into my name, so I'm hopeful he will keep his promise.

    Thanks for the advice :)

The agreement of both parties is needed. Will T-Mobile play ball over this? Is your credit record ok?

If they put up objections, get him to show you his personal account page for your mobile, then leave the room whilst you change the password. Then your records will be secure, as you will have the password and he won't.

His only way round that would be to apply for a new password, but you would know that had happened, as your own would no longer work.
  • Get your OH to phone T-Mobile and request a Transfer of Ownership letter to be sent to you. When you receive the letter, call the number printed on it and then your number will be transferred into your name. So you would be liable for the payments etc. You will have to pass a credit check and you must have had the number for over 3 months.

The one issue is that when you do a transfer of ownership, doesn't the contract start from the beginning again? Or has that changed now?
