Good things to report!0
Uswitch wine code came through so wine ordered - 12 bottles for doing nothing much!
Friend has invited me on holiday with the kids and I'm off soon. Just the flights etc to pay for. Having booked with Ryanair, I'm certainly of the conclusion that the OFT should be looking into their marketing practises! They charged £10 per person handling fee for paying -£30 in total. Came to about £156, which isn't too bad for a return flight but it was advertised as £5 one way and £0 the other. On the way out the flight was so cheap as they didn't include taxes so that was good but all their extras certainly add up!0 -

I have to agree it annoys me immensely that compulsory items are not shown early in the pricing structure. I try not to fly with them due to their policies and reported lack of customer care when canceling flights etc. Do remember to get your boarding passes printed in advance (both ways if you won't have internet and printer the other end?)
Anyway, the most important thing is to enjoy that holiday with the children! :T0 -
I see a new issue for Martin and the team to get their teeth into once they have sorted the bank charges!;)
I had no choice but to fly with them as they are the only airline which flies to the airport which I need.0 -

Not a very mse day today. Had to go to the passport office for a one day turn around passport costing £94. Had to kill 4 hours whilst I was waiting - which unfortunately meant trailing around shops. Unfortunately, I gave into temptation and spent £50 on two tops and £34 on two books. About £6 in Lakeland and about £10 in a tea room not to mention the petrol travelling 70 miles to get there!
On the plus side my uswitch wine was here when I arrived home.0 -

Not sure if this is good or bad news. I have just rang for an update on my ISA's and they have fallen to £17151.08 from £18050.48 since 28 May. During which time a further £300 was paid into them.
On the positive side units are low, so I'm buying more. However, it's never nice to see that your ISA is lower than it was. I think the most I have ever known it to have is Nov 2007 which was £21,180. Since then 20 further payments have been made totalling an extra £3000.
It's quite difficult to tell when they will have reached the old peak of 2007 and when they have I intend to sell them and put them towards the mortgage. To make it difficult I can't go by the unit price as they have changed the unit fund earlier this year.
However, my old PEP was converted to an ISA and I can get the value of that seperate although I have included it in the total. It's currently £2694 but was £3899 at it's highest. Making quite a drop in two years, I calculate it to be a 31% drop since it's peak.
I think I want prices to stay low for the time being as at some point this year I may have some money to throw at it as an overpayment.0 -
The more you have to pay back, the greater the interest savings you'll make!! Remember, you are investing in an asset, so even with house prices the way they are ,you are likely to end up with something worth more than you paid for it eventually, even with interest!
Good luck with the moneysaving and overpaying, it really is addictive and has fantastic side effects!Mortgage £120K, monthly overpayment £600, 18 years and £100K saved0
