All seems a bit of a mess, and your OP is not really that clear, Who is claiming the £100? was it the DVLA or the Local Authority that impounded your car?

after 1 month my car was impounded i got an out of court letter saying that the car was not cover from road tax for more than 6 months.that was from DVLA. sorry if my OP is a bit messy but I am still SO CROSSED about it ..

But surely if you registered the car with the DVLA that you bought it 2 and a half months then they would know you didnt own it for those 3 1/2 months.

You should edit your post and bullet point each part so it is easier to read. xx

I don't think it would have mattered if the OP had checked the validity of the disk. If they had checked the day they picked up the car it would have appeared to be valid. Presumably the seller cancelled it in the days following the sale.

It sounds like the OP has all the evidence - its probably worth pursuing.

Another reason could be that the tax disc was paid for by a cheque which bounced. Then the DVLA simply void the disc, making it a worthless piece of paper and therefore the authorites take the vehicle as untaxed.

The disk will tell you where it was purchased.
