Parking fine, any ground for appeal?

Hello, new member (long time browser) here, yesterday evening I got a parking ticket shortly after 7pm for parking my car on double yellow lines in a residential street. I went into the newsagents for a maximum of five minutes and when I came back out my cars been ticketed. I understand that it is an offence to park on double yellow lines and that this is illegal however this is not what I feel I should be appealing over.
The two wardens (or 'Civil Enforcement Officers' as they have been titled) who issued the ticket had a small van which they themselves parked illegally on double yellows and worse on a corner coming off of a main road. I also suspect that the barstewards saw me pull up there and go into the shop and then crossed the road to issue the notice. So is it right that they should themselves park illegally to give me a ticket and also has anyone else appealed in the past to your local council and thinks that this could be overturned due to blatant corruption? Any insight would be most appreciated.

No grounds. Someone else doing something illegal is no defence for you doing the same. (I know it's decriminilsed now but the idea is the same)
  • Go back to the place you were ticketed and check to see if each end of the double yellows is correctly terminated with bars.

And also post up the ticket (both front and back), as it may not be entirely correct.

    was the PCN legally issued?

i wasn't aware you had some access to seeing a fully legal PCN when others haven't yet seen it?

Presumably you've read the TRO for the location, extensively, to ensure all procedures have been followed and restrictions are valid?

    No, i thought not.

    To quote the OP

"I understand that it is an offence to park on double yellow lines and that this is illegal"

He admits the offence, so end of discussion on that score.

To be honest, what he thinks is irrelevant.

i prefer the view of Judges that have stated the opposite and specifically that what may be obvious to him is not in fact the case.
He may not realise that such legal precedents exist.

    - and the other questions? You have no interest in whether or not the Council have acted within the law? He must do so but they don't have to??? Sounds oddly unfair.

It's very relevant, the start of the legal arguement will be did he commit the offence?

    Answer: Yes.

LOL. you really don't get it do you. He thinks he did but the law may say he didn't.

It is unlikely to be an 'offence'. More likely a contravention.

perhaps i should be fair and make something clear. I actually support parking enforcement - so long as it is legal - and a few other concerns.

    It very often isn't.

No you are the one thats not getting this one.

Has the OP said the lines were defective? No
Has the OP said the ticket was issued outside the premitted times? No
Other than the fact the OP has stated the "Wardens" also committed the same "cintravention" or worse does the OP have a complaint about the issue of the ticket? No

His question was, can he get out of paying as the "Wardens" also parked on the same lines? The answer again would be no as he fully admits the contravention.
