Just noticed on the website that Tt are uping their landline rental from £ 10 to £11.50 a month

i am within my minimum 18 month term contract period

can they do this or can this be deemd a breach of contract giving me the oportunity to leave ?

You could try, but you may find BT will charge you £125 to reconnect you to their systems.

you will have bother getting out of contract - I cancelled in January this year as i was moving house and they could not provide service to my new address - they agreed to waiver £70 disconnection fee as they could not provide service to new address. but they have continued to take dd out of my account as as i cancelled with namk they are now charging non payment fees - when i ring they say there are no records on my account of cancellation etc, i cancelled again and they are still taking out money - nightmare!!!

The increase is actually from £10.50 to £11.25, the same 75p increase that BT are applying. I am not sure of the date this applies from, as I have just received my monthly bill and it remains at £10.50 for line rental. Does it not only apply to new customers-if you are within contract it should remain as is until that contract ends?

If you aren't happy with the price changes you can leave penalty free between 9th April and 8th May by speaking to the retentions team.
As long as the line is active there should be no charge to return to BT's network
