We had nine things we had ordered from Amazon and Play disappear over the course of a month over Christmas a couple of years ago, DVDs, games etc. Not not after we read that someone at the sorting office had been caught stealing such items.
We had to put claims in to Amazon/Play for non delivery of these items but we could have looked like we were scammers ourselves due to the amount of times we were claiming we hadn't received things.

There is no evidence that anyone is stealing the OPs post. They just think it's being stolen.

I have received two ripped open envelopes with the contents missing but invoices inside. That is not accidental - my post is going missing far too often for it to be anything other than theft. I am not an idiot and I do not say these things lightly. One of the envelopes had been repackaged and sent in a Royal Mail bag whilst the invoice (minus contents) was in a Royal mail envelope (not the same one it was sent in)

Even the woman on the phone agreed that it was obvious it was being stolen - she just couldn't do anything for me except tell me to put in a claim (although I didn't send the items) and return the ripped envelopes.

If you phone Royal Mail Customer Services 08457 740740 you can lodge a complaint as I have had to do this when our mail was sent to a similar sounding name, I live in an Avenue and it was being sent to "Lane". It was happening so often that the problem was looked into. I then had to complain again and it was escalated to the "Mangers, Manager!". They did put instructions in place which seemed to have helped. I think the problem needs investigating as this just isn't right. You might find that you are not the only one with this probelm on this round.
  • I think perhaps if you make the complaint and no action is taken you should try to get it in the papers. When things are in the public eye they are likely to get more attention. The royal mail should have never been privatised!

I always have anything purchased on-line, or any parcels, addressed to me at work. It saves alot of bother, is safely stored over the weekend if necessary, and means I don't have to keep calling round to my neighbour to collect items (although she doesn't mind a jot). The PO has been "losing" my post for years.

I have had this happen a few times lately, even a parcel I sent recorded hasnt arrived after 2 months, its just logged as arriving at my post office. I have lost all faith in Royal mail. There must be a BIG warehouse somewhere with all these lost parcels in!!!!!!!

Part of the prblem is that if you aren't actually EXPECTING a certain item of post, you really don't have any idea of what may have gone missing. A few months ago I had several Pinecone envelopes go missing - I did the surveys and was expecting the vouchers within a few days but nothing arrived. Also, my grandchildrens passport applications went astray between Bristol and Cornwall ( my DIL had sent all the bits down to me to do here as I already had the old passports) - that meant 2 new lots of photos and counter signed application forms so was a real pain. And then a parcel went missing.

I knew those items had been posted and I knew they hadn't arrived so was sure there was a problem. But how can I assess what else might have gone astray - I've no way of knowing what might have been posted to me so haven't a clue if anything else has gone missing!

I suspect that a shockigly high percentage of stuff vanishes into a black hole and nobody realises until you read newspaper reports of Royal Mail staff have shedloads of mail stuffed away ! And then we are expected to sympathise cos the poor postman was stressed by the sheer vlume of letters he was expected to deliver and couldn't cope! Cobblers!!!

as ive said before any mail hoarding/theft should be an automatic custodial sentence
were all sick of the 'i was too stressed' defence
right now my office is getting torn apart and im spending over 5 hours on delivery
    i have 2 options
deliver it in overtime or take it all back at my official time.
taking it home isnt an option!

    E.mail Adam Crozier direct.

He is the CEO of the Royal Mail, and your problem will get dealt with quicker.
