Royal mail thief continues to get away with it..

I phoned Royal Mail again yesterday as more stuff has gone missing in the post. This time they said fill in a claim for but there is nothing else they will do. I asked the woman if I could report it to the police and she said that it wouldn't do anything because the police would just contact the Royal Mail!
It is not just stuff I've bought from ebay thats going missing - a lot of stuff is and then there are the comp wins that I don't know about that could be going missing as well!

I am really upset and frustrated and I am worried that paypal will think I am some kind of scammer because I am having to claim item not received so much! Three items out of three purchases havent turned up in the last month alone - that is no coincidence.

Any help appreciated

Hi, do you participate in the Royal Mail Surveys system? You send & receive tracked postal items on their behalf & they can monitor whats happening with post in your area.
I had a problem a while back with items going missing so I signed up. I have been doing it for a while now & Im sure its helped in some way to stop my post going missing as Im not aware there has been anything go astray for a while now.
I know it doesnt help with these items that have got lost, but may help in the future.

Report it to the police, if someone is stealing your post have the police speak to them may stop them doing it again, and it proves to RM you are serious about the complaint.

The seller should send things recorded. Then they will be protected and you will be also.
Next time you buy something, ask them to send it recorded. It's only 72p more.

Even recorded items are being stolen. I have had two recorded deliveries go missing - one of them was £50 of vouchers.

The real jewel of the conversation was the woman telling me I should use a family members address! Why should I use another address when they have a thief working for them?

Not a good idea, it just flags up your stuff in this situation and makes it worse.

I had this exact problem a few Christmasses ago, my stuff though was disappearing outwards and RM just kept telling me to fill out claim forms. In the end I snapped a bit on the phone and was nearly crying as item after item was disappearing into thin air, recorded ones seemed to go faster than non recorded.

I ended up being diverted to a special department in Glasgow that dealt with this type of thing, they worked horribly early hours though as for a few weeks I was talking to a young guy at around 6am a couple of mornings a week. Firstly they told me to stop using recorded but to post something and then phone in with the exact time it was posted and at which PO and what the item looked like exactly. Then they asked me to send one recorded and give them the exact details again.

Finally they admitted they had an issue at a local sorting office and had narrowed down the problem area by seeing which timed parcels were lost and which got through. They told me appropriate action had been taken, paid out all my claims and also gave me compensation for all my time. They said that as my packages were all roughly the same (and were large ) they knew what I was selling after they opened the first one, so whoever it was who was removing my items watched for my stuff from certain pick ups and recorded meant they could spot them easily in a pile because of the size and the fact that the orange sticker caught their eye.

I don't know what this Glasgow office was or even if they are still there, but I would definitely be very persistent with this, it is unacceptable and until the RM investigate it is unlikely to get any better.

You should speak to the Police and give crime number to Royal Mail.
Also, advise your postie of the on-going problem and tell him/her it has been reported.
Pls dont accuse ur postie; simply inform. This can put fear in his mind if he is part of the scam

There is no evidence that anyone is stealing the OPs post. They just think it's being stolen.

I guess you are correct technically as going missing and outright theft are 2 different things

I had post being taken and even had envelopes opened and things taken out and then the empty envelope delivered! I was a part of the Royal Mail Surveys but after I reported that their envelopes had been tampered with (and even their rewards being taken out of envelopes, badly resealed and then shoved through the door!) they removed me from their panel as it all depends upon no one knowing you are a part of it. Reporting stolen items to the RM was a nightmare - the form is long, complicated and does not appear to be designed for reporting theft. I also complained to the sorting office and my own postman ...still things are tampered with and go missing.

There's no evidence that's true but I wouldn't be suprised. Someone at Royal Mail has been stealing my family's post for months now and committing identity theft. We've been through all the channels such as reporting to police etc. but nothing is ever done about it.

We know it is someone at RM because credit cards etc. are being sent to our home address and don't get the chance to be stolen from our house.

Can you give further details of the Survey system kprigg, sounds like it might help
