I'd not take to heart the comments as to why you went there. I've just come back from going shopping in local town and the Claire's there also does piercings.

There would be no reason to distrust the shop or suspect that staff aren't trained properly as like you have said its a well known and trusted chain shop

Stop cleaning your ears with tcp or anything like that and actually do some research.

You say you just want friendly advice, so since you obviously have the internet learn to use it.

If you use google or any other search engine and search for piercing aftercare, you will find that the only thing you need to use it salt water. You're probably causing your own problems by using anything else - and if you're using harsh things like tcp it's not surprising they haven't healed after a year!

Bad piercing, coupled with bad quality studs (they will be, even if they claim to be gold, because gold isn't that great for piercings anyway) and bad aftercare is a recipe for disaster.

Go to a decent piercer and see what they advise. Since you haven't been following Claire's aftercare, since they're rubbish, and since it's been so long they won't be interested.

Hi I was following the claire's aftercare as that is included when you buy the earrings you get a bottle of solution to use and aftercare instructions which I followed. Sorry maybe I should have made it clearer about the tcp I have only used that a few times and that was last week as I didn't know what else to do :o
Thanks for all the advice I will go to a body piercing shop and see what they can advise and will update when I can.
    Many thanks.

Go to the Drs asap. Get your ears sorted first, then worry about the piercings

I don't think you've 'been attacked for not going to a reputable place'.

I think some people (including me) are astonished at how long you've left this before doing anything.

Lots of people (including me) have suggested that the first thing you should do is go see your doctor.
    So, when is your appointment?

So you're not following it! You're following it occasionally, apart from when you decide to know better.

I don't think we should get too hung up on after care here. Have you seen some of the fantastic african ear and lip piercings that happen without tcp, salt water or even a leaflet on aftercare. If your piercings are sore your doc will tell you how to sort that out. If you paid very little to get them pierced dont go there again. I had an ear pierced 18 years ago that still sometimes weeps but other piercings and tattoos are just dandy. It's the human body. Start messing with it and deal with it. It will be fine, get pierced again, get pierced in a different place or don't get a new hole again. Your call. Enjoy what you do to your body though. Even ear piercing is as much as a decision as a tattoo or nipple ring. You are changing your skin. Enjoy it :D

Yes, the point there being they heal well without tcp. Leaving it alone is a great way of healing piercings (and I do it with all of mine). But since some people need to meddle, it's best they do it with salt water rather than anything else.
