Logging MSN Chats

Hi all
I want to be able to log MSN chats onto the computer, but I can't log on to the relevant persons account to select the proper option.
I did find a registry key which seems to do it (I tested it on my login and it seems to work). One entry that contains the path doesn't appear on the other login and the key that appears to initialise it is different.
Two questions:-
1) Will copying these two entries initialise logging on the other account?
2) What's the best way of copying the entries?
Thanks for any suggestions.

To keep a log of your messages automatically you simply set it in your own options, you don´t need to log on to their account. Assuming you have the latest version (which is Windows Live) although as far as I remember its the same in previous versions, you simply select "Tools" from the dropdown menu and then "Options" at the bottom, and then "Messages" and then tick "Automatically keep a history of my conversations". Further down you can change the location where these are stored. Press "Apply" and its done.0

I tried that. It logs my chats, but no-one elses and I know they've been using it.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

You could be 100% sure and install a key logger that way it will capture every keystroke on the computer. You can get free trial versions which will run for 7 to 10 days, this may help with your suspicions.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

Why don't you ask whoever you want to spy on to enable logging themselves?0

Like already been said, you may be better off to use a keylogging program on your pc instead of the chat logs, as these can be turned off on MSN Live Messenger.James0

I can't believe people are advocating the use of key-loggers on here.
Firstly spying without someone's consent is illegal, secondly keyloggers are potentially very dangerous with malware payloads.
The setting for MSN would have to be made by the user themselves, the settings are personal to each user, not global.0 -

you havent seen james bond have you?
I would consider a key logger but im sure if they found you would be in court damn quick. cant you set up some remote access software to see what they are doing on the screen and hope they dont notice, something like the basic trial thing of logmein.com would work but you need to know there password for windows.0 -
why on earth would anyone want to install a keylogger thats probably bundled with other nasties?0
