How best to release/spend credit on old PAYG sims????

MY OH and me have recently switched from Orange to O2 and wanted to give our children our old handsets unlocking them to use their o2 PAYG sims.
However, unlocking is proving tricky and/or expensive. So I have got them free Orange sims to use and will do the £10 monthly top-up for 300 texts free.
My question:
Is there a way of releasing the credit that remains on their o2 PAYG sims? It amounts to roughly £50 as I have been doing the £10 monthly top-up to get 300 free texts on o2 so the credit has mounted up as they mainly text.
If it cant be released what can I or they spend it on?

We have good inclusive texts/calls bundles on our monthly tariff so wouldn't use it for that.

Any ideas please??????

which phones you need unlocking? ask here for help on that. some phones are dead easy!! its better you try first to unlock.!!

what model of phone?

They are SE k700i and Samsung d500 both locked to Orange that need using on o2 PAYG

re the D500, try #*7337# with the phone turned on and no sim inside.
(info from the first page of the unlocking phones other than nokias sticky...)

Have tried that already and no joy plus read somewhere that d500 needs debranding to work with o2 PAYG but thanks anyway
