£69 Wedding Cake

I'm thinking of having a couple of tiers of M&S cakes - one fruit and one sponge, but am a bit worried that my decorating attempts may be a bit lame. Just browsing online and came across Sweet Art Cakes in Manchester - who are doing a two tier cake for £69. They had some other cakes which looked good value too. Just thought someone might be interested. Would post a link, but I've gone back to being a newbie since the site was relaunched for some reason..and so I can't post links now!

Ruthie, I think that you can't post links now because you only appear to have posted 7 times since you joined back in 2007 so your post count won't be high enough:rolleyes:

I noticed in M & S on saturday they currently have their single tiers on 3 for 2. I saw this in the Sutton Coldfield store. (available on main 'occasion' cake shelves not on the order collection point)

As the cakes can only be guarenteed for a short time they may only be available for a few weeks however if the fruit cakes have been made well enough and brandy/whisky has been used in the cooking process there should not be any reason that they wont last longer as fruit cakes are said to last years.

Wow - they look great prices. I already have a cake sorted but am sure that this will be useful to people. It is nice that they have clear pricing too as many cake websites you have to contact them for a quote.

I think it is only the white fruit iced that they have in store, it comes to 93.00 for the XL, L, and M, but on-line I have ordered XL Fruit, L & M sponge in Ivory for 92.00.

Also does anyone know how long the sell by dates on the sponge ones would be as I have chosen delivery for the next Sat but wedding not until following Friday.

If they do them in sponge off the shelf can you let me know as well.

    cheers me dears.

I am hoping to go to Hobbycraft this weekend, so will pop into M&S and see how long their use by dates are.

I would think they would have a resonable amount of shelf life on them, at least a couple of weeks - will get back to you.
