I freeze this sort of meal regularly and we have suffered no ill effects. Make sure when you re-heat it that it is piping hot.
  • Cool!! Thank you!!

Just remember you can only freeze it once. So,if you have leftovers the second time around they should be ditched ;)

I mean then cooked that day chickens. I took the chance and bought 4 of them as they were reduced to £1.54! is it ok for me to take the meat off and freeze for other meals?

Pleased anyway as i took my coupons and got £4.70 off also lol
  • It says to not freeze them, but I have brought loads in the past when reduced and frozen them and haven't died yet! lol

I have one in my freezer at mo actually!

Just make sure they are totally cold before putting them in the freezer, if they are still warm from being cooked instore I would leave em a while to cool down before freezing.

I was about to open my big mouth, on the grounds of food safety, in a derogatory way about the buying of cooked chicken from the hot counter at a supermarket - particularly at the end of the day when they are selling them off reduced

I have changed my mind and am keeping totally silent...

HUH! No idea what that means. Can't be fussy though when your skint.

I figured i cook my chicken at home and would happily freeze it later in the day, and its getting cooked again before being eaten in soups and stiry frys etc, should kill any germs! (i hope)

I think soappie might have been concerned at the length of time this chicken has been kept warm on the counter before being sold at the end of the day. A warm counter cabinet is the perfect place for bacteria to multiply, especially over a long period of time, so personally I wouldn't buy, let alone freeze and reheat this sort of chicken myself.

When we freeze our own chicken later in the day, this has usually been cooled in the fridge first so IMO it's not quite the same thing

  • I always make sure I go to the reduced priced fridge to see whats there before doing my shopping. I freeze it & I would freeze the cooked chicken too.

If you'd cooked it yourself would you freeze it?

Agree with letting it cool first though as it will heat your freezer up.

    I would
