So if you get scammed in the UK are you going to stop selling here?
Nope. But I'm well within my rights to refuse to sell outside of the UK and my reasoning doesn't need explaining.

How do you know they are from france? Are you just looking at their ebay location?

It is bizarre and it has happened me a couple of times. Germany was the last time. They apparently from Germany, then all of a sudden the email arrives, "send it to my aunt in nigeria". etc etc.

So you say no thanks, report them to ebay and offer to the underbidder. Hardly rocket science.

I actually feel quite left out, despite several thousand transactions and many a high end phone sold (they are UK only though due to insurance issues) I have never yet had contact with a Nigerian scammer..

    Nor have I.

Mind you, the more Daily Mail readers who refuse to sell to them nasty foreigners means more business to me.

I can feel a letter to The Telegraph coming on.

Oi, leave some foreign buyers for me. :T My new favourites are the Australians, they are the politest most pleasant buyers I have ever come across. Their feedback is full of praise and their comms are perfect.

I do occasionally limit auctions to UK, I did after I had a run in with my Maltese buyer as it knocked my confidence a bit and also when I lost an item to Italy. Then after a week or so I realise I need the sales and open up again. I don't ship worldwide though, I stick to the Americas, Europe and Australia .

For quite a bit of my personal stuff I also limit myself to the UK if the item is heavy, as I run the risk otherwise of selling a 99p item with £5 of posting and that hits my paypal charges. Anything that weighs in lighter though gets offered.

I now have a bidder from Sweeden, I asked them to retract their bid but they said I need to cancel it. How do I do this?

Did you follow the advice you were given in #6?

If not I suggest you read it and do it.
