you missed the obvious...halfway through the windows version there should have been a reboot...cos that's what always happens...right? Or maybe a virus could have arrived and eaten half the text?
Is there any reason why the mac version of the text is blurry? I was looking for a pair of Elton John style glasses..with big £ or $ signs on them...to view the text through...but google images quickly failed me.
Plan B was to edit the images...but I'm not that artistic (I use a PC)
Plan C involved beards...but I'm not sure how..
Couldn't resist mentioning key-loggers I'm afraid. You're a stronger man than I!
The reason it's "blurry" is because Mac OS X respects what the font actually looks like, as opposed to Windows which squishes it into a grid, and has all those horrible jagged edges.
Still, Windows makes it really fun guessing what a font will look like once it has been printed, so all is not lost.

Very informative!
..but...strangely (maybe because it's what I'm used to?!) I prefer the win text!Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
Some people find the Windows text "sharper" and easier to read, and feel that Apple have gone for presentation over readability.
Others feel that the Windows fonts look ugly, and a font should look like what it's supposed to look like, not an approximation of it.
The one someone prefers is generally the one they're used to. Apple used to use their Mac font rendering in Safari for Windows, but Windows users complained the fonts were blurry and not as clear, so the Safari 4 beta for Windows uses the Windows font rendering style.
I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear I like the Mac way, because it's prettier.0 -
...but strangley there's 'more to' the mac rendering...more pixels/character seem to have been used. This surely isn't the mac way..providing more than a windows machine for the same money?I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear I like the Mac way, because it's prettier.
Steve Jobs would be turning in his grave if he knew they were giving away pixels.
Ah...re-read the post...Only mac users get the extra pixels...and they get to pay for them...so that's ok...
...10% of computer users get an extra 10% of the pixels for an extra 40% of the price....the status quo is re-established
...and before you say "safari is free" ...erm...nope...you've paid for it!
(and I don't use it....I have too much invested in my firefox installation...though by all accounts it is blisteringly fast..and compliant)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
lol.....I think that's one reason I prefer the Mac style; I have very poor eyesight, and find Windows fonts too thin to read comfortably.
As for price, I am currently directing Windows users who complain about Apple prices to the Dell Adamo, starting at only £1,649.

ohhh...that looks a bit nice...will it run crysis?

..btw...I hate sites that insist I use flash to function
...bad web designers...they probably use macs

I would be surprised.
You'd have more luck on a MacBook Pro for the same price.
Or even a £400 cheaper, more powerful, MacBook Air.
What a strange thread. :cool:0 -

Not me...this is prettier:
It's nice that Dell are trying though.
I read with some amusement that Dell had to figure out a way to make something sleek and attractive, without having it ruined by the stupid stickers Microsoft makes them put all over everything. It has some magnetic covers on the bottom to hide them.
I thought it was just a coincidence that Apple, who are the only major computer manufacturer to not sell a computer with Windows, made the prettiest computers, but apparently Microsoft get in the way of making something that looks nice.
Looks like it's beige boxes for all then.

And that's the first time I've heard of Dell being described as "expensive".
Are we talking about the same Dell?
Marty - I for another one always recon dell to be expensive for what you get...this desktop was built to spec by a reputable local shop, and £150 cheaper than a similar(but slightly inferior)-specced dell..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
