Cheapest Tyres

  • Goldspanners will (probably) swear by the federal S595's and i'll highly recommend the ToyoT1R's.

Camskills below are usually unbeatable on price, maybe you could try a local independent tyre suppier to see if they could come somewhere close to their prices (bearing in mind that someone will have to remove, refit, balance etc so don't expect a price match).

Alternatively if you are on friendly terms with a tyre place you could buy from someone and get them fitted as a separate transaction (reckon on £10 to 15 per tyre)

Get out to some of your small independant fitters - IME, they will nearly always beat the big-name competition for a decent tyre.

Very few will have an online presence either IME.

Look for one with a line of taxis outside, or ask a taxi driver - they get through tyres at a frightening rate and will always know the cheapest place. :)

Please dont buy cheap and nasty tyres, get cheap decent brand tyres like Avon, Bridgestone, Dunlop...

Blackcircles or mytyres are good sites

I agree, cheap tyres means trouble.

Kumho's are good tyres for the price

You could pay a very high price for saving a few quid on cheap rubber.

Think about it this way, its likely that the equivalent of the size of 4 fag packets of rubber is in contact with the road at any one time that aint a lot of rubber, get the best you can afford.

But rhere will always be a compromise between longevity and road holding ability.

  • anyone know good place to get michilin tyre cheap?

had my last set price matched to costo prices at nationwide, got a buldge in rear left tyre, 5mm of tread left, thought no worries bout the warranty for £5..

didn't realise it was 50% off full price (£188 now, was £140 at the time of fitting) plus fitting + disposal, infact it costs me £2 more than tyretraders.com which i recently found, seem to be on average cheaper than mytyres and blackcircles...

but yea, i agree with the majority, tyres are the important, i've bought budget or cheaper brands only twice, and the last time (to save money), i ended up crashing the car after 3 weeks as braking in the wet was very poor! of course one may argue that as i was always used to better tyres prahaps i would be more used to driving that way and someone who's always had budget tyres wouldn't of crashed ?
