Massive Mobile Phone Bill

My wife (the wee dote) ran up a £350 mobile bill in 6 weeks with Orange. I bought her the phone a couple of months ago, set up in my name, direct debit from my account, and the contract had unlimited texts (which is what she normally uses) and 400 minutes (got this for "just in case") as I thought that's the most she would ever possibly use. I thought it would save us money in the long-run as I was forever going onto my internet banking and seeing top-ups from her, then a cheque would bounce and the £35 fee's do add up!!!

I requested a statement from Orange to confirm these charges as I really didn't think it possible, and she assured me she hadn't gone over her minutes, but it seems she has. We're staying together for the kids:rotfl:

Orange never attempted to take a direct debit from my account or I would have caught this earlier.

Does anyone know if you can get a "Credit Limit" put on your account so it never hits these heights again? That is, if I get it paid off before the 18 month contract is up!!

You can certainly request a credit limit to be set on your account with some networks, I don't see why you can't waith Orange. It sounds like this is the least of your problems though!
