I have just nipped in to see if you have been able to get anywhere with the daughter, it seems that everything that could happen is happening, I think it has been said somewhere on the thread, but if not, this must be one of the reasons the lady chose your husband to stick to this like glue, perhaps all too aware what could happen.

Something like this can draws on all your strengths, some strengths you didnt even know you had, what ever the final result you will both know you did everything possible to make sure the ladies wishes were respected.

Good luck, hope solicitor B had some answers for you when he returned from his holiday.

I will come back after 9 june to see how your meeting has gone.

I have no idea who is complaining but there are now sections of this saga that make no sense with various posts removed whilst the one you mention remains.

Maybe someone can come along and explain things?
Someone is clearly still complaining and I distinctly recall seeing the question 'why am I being singled out?' being posed which has conveniently been removed and unanswered. Not overly impressed.

Perhaps one reason why the thread isn't making sense is that Mrsmoneypenny has removed at least five posts (must of which were unhelpful and contained poor advice) and the board guides have removed several of mine.

Some of which were asking why I, in particular, am being singled out. I have not been rude or libellous and the posts were probably more relevant than the housewife chatter from other posters that have contributed little in the way of practical help to the OP.

At the same time my signature is also removed and my emails and pms to the board guides are ignored.

For the record, I am not here for commercial gain. The IPW is a nationwide body of Will writers who seek proper regulation of Willwriters, and it is a stance that I and very many others endorse. I regularly endorse other organisations that have similarly high standards to the IPW, neither of which I am a member of - namely STEP and Solicitors for the Elderly.

I am at times critical of solicitors - and since solicitors do not face a compulsory exam in preparing Wills in any part of their education or training - the consumer has no way of knowing in advance whether their experience will be a positive one or not. People are entitled to be aware of that fact. The evidence of the incompetent and unethical is all around us and what I say is based on fact rather than a particular bias one way or the other.

Perhaps the board guides feel a duty towards indignant solicitors or other Will writers to remove my posts or signature?

This post is straying off topic slightly and will probably be removed again. In which case I wonder if the other irrelevant posts including the one above will be removed as well.

Board Guides, why don't you give us a proper explanation instead of acting in such an underhand and arbitrary manner?

For what it's worth I will include one of my removed posts - this one in fact has been removed twice.
Public wealth warning! It's not compulsory for solicitors or Willwriters to pass an exam in writing Wills - probably the most important thing you’ll ever sign.

Having encountered far more incompetence than I would like, I completely agree.

Considering the shocking examples of willwriters’ antics dotted on this forum ( I eventually collated a few on this thread in the hope they'd be picked up under a search by any MSE), you’d think your signature would be welcomed.

You have my sympathy. The way you are being treated here is not right.

For clarity: I had no involvement whatsoever in the removal of Localhero's posts, or those of any other poster. I PM'd Localhero immediately when they asked in a post if I was responsble. They have not acknowledged my PM.

Localhero, this is your opinion, which in my opinion unecessarily denigrates other posters on this thread.

Ratty - I apologise for taking the emphasis away from your very important original post. If I have any information I feel may be helpful to you I will post it.
As always, my best wishes to you and Mr Ratty in your ongoing battle for justice for the elderly lady.

Indeed ...

GOING OFF-TOPIC

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: While it’s easy to wander off-topic that often prevents newbies finding the information they want quickly and easily (please see this rule). Please keep this thread on topic. If you’d like to discuss non-MoneySaving related topics please continue your discussion in The MoneySavers Arms or Discussion Time. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

To that end, and just so you all know, I have moved one post to the Forum Policy board. You can see it here if you're interested.

And I've asked abuse to take a look at this (currently) last page of the thread, so apologies if that means posts get deleted, but hopefully it will get the original topic back to the fore.
Signature removed for peace of mind

DH received a written response from the Royal London this morning - they're the one's who paid two small policies to the daughter, the policies were not written in trust and therefore should have been paid to the estate.

They have, believe it or not, declared the state of affairs to be nothing more than a 'family dispute' and that DH should take the matter up with the daughter.

Forgive me for being naive here but a policy without a named beneficiary goes automatically to the estate and has to be included when the estate goes to probate...correct?

Here comes another strongly worded letter of complaint. *sigh*

I'm speechless !!! Link for their complaints policy and procedure here
http://www.royal-london.co.uk/existing/complaints.html

Unless Mr Ratty is related, how on earth can it be a 'family dispute' ?
What proof did they have the daughter was the daughter ? A light fingered cleaner could have waltzed off with the policies and anyone can get a copy death certificate.
Still speechless !!

They appear to have disregarded the copy of the will DH sent and simply applied the Law of Intestacy whereby the surviving daughter inherits 50% and the children from the daughter who predeceased the lady get the other 50%. That would then make it a 'family dispute' would it not?

For the record, DH is NOT related!

Thank you for the link Errata, I've made a note of the address and phone number for DH.

Just some thoughts. Looking at your first post, the lady died at the end of Feb and probate can take quite a few weeks to be granted depending which part of the country you're in.
Until probate was granted your OH had no legal standing as far as the lady's affairs were concerned so couldn't have applied for the insurance to go into the estate account.
I thought it was only car insurance companies that sometimes attempted to wriggle out of payouts. Clearly I was wrong.
