gmail every time. I do all mine on line which makes it available from any computer and use the Calendar, Google Docs and Picasa which are all available at a click from the email page. I use Google Chrome as my main browser.

I see Outlook mentioned - do you mean Outlook Express? That is free. A good "on computer" email client is Thunderbird and that is also free. The great thing about web mail is that you don't lose the address when you change ISPs. I learned that the hard way when Virgin took over ntl and just simply shut my ntl address down. Got rid of the mingeing idiots as soon as I could and ma now with O2 which is superb and uses just the same phone line (we don't have cable in this area).

Virtually all the spam I get comes in from an old email address on Onetel which is "harvested" for me by Gmail and I do have to check it before emptying the spam box, just occasionally something I want crops up there.

Apart from google they pretty much all suck. However I find their spam filters catch everything.

Hotmail is great I use the option where anything not in your address book goes to spam and I think they filter most of the spam before it even gets to you.

The only problem I had was when i couldn't access my email from a couple of hours but that has only happened once in 6 years of using them.

No IMAP access and smaller attachment limits means it loses for me.

I have had a Hotmail account for about 10 years now, but since Gmail came out, the only thing it gets used for is messenger.

Hotmail is FAR too slow for my liking. It takes a few seconds to open an email for goodness sake.
