Best free web based mail account

Looking for some recommendations on the best free email accounts, available via the web. If one could possibly be configued with Outlook for free that would be marvellous but it's not a huge concern if I can't.
I've just deleted a gmail account due to the amount of spam I was getting and I have to say I found it very user unfriendly so I don't want another gmail. I'm not keen on hotmail and I have got a Yahoo account which gets a certain amount of spam but I'm just wondering what other alternatives are out there?

I use @easy.com email (there is a link at the top right of the easy.com homepage) mainly because I was looking for something different, but also because it's easy to remember (lol!!). After using it for about 2 months as a trial, I have found it so good, it is now my main email account! It is web-based, but has a very fast loading time, unlike Hotmail etc. I also like how it updates automatically every 5 seconds or so, and when you do have a new mail, the title changes text to "1 new mail alert!" instead of "Inbox" or whatever which I have found nice. attatchments are easy to use and organise aswell. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

It's all downhill from Gmail IMHO.
I don't understand though; if you set Gmail up to be used with Outlook, how is it "user unfriendly"?0 -
I have been very pleased with Yahoo Mail. You will get less spam if you put a underscore in the name (for example fred_blogs@yahoo.co.uk.) The spam filter gets rid of most though, not that I get much, perhaps one a day at most. Names are generated automatically by the spammers and using characters like an underscore gets round this. Also be careful not to disclose your e-mail address on the web!0

I didn't set up gmail to work with outlook, just used the web based functionality and just wasn't impressed with it, that's all.
Thanks for your thoughts0 -
I never liked gmail web based either, I use it with outlook and its fine, what ever spam does get through outlook takes care of it such as this. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Why don't you use it with Outlook then, like you want to?
You must be pretty careless with your email address if your gmail account was inundated with spam. It has one of the best spam filters around.0 -
Must say, GMail has the best spam filter out of any mail account I've ever had.0

+1 for Gmail here. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

+1 for gmail and for gmail's spam filter being extremely good.
I'm curious when you say you get spam do you actually mean in your inbox or do you mean in the spam folder ?
I don't remember the last time I had spam in my inbox

also curious what folk find user unfriendly in gmail - I find it a stunning email service - with only one thing I don't like and shed loads that I do - threaded conversations alone is superb - labels I love oh I could go on but wont.
Yahoo is the biggest spam magnet on the planet.
gmx has a good reputationHate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -
I use yahoo.co.uk and most of the spam i get goes in the spam box, its much better than my yahoo.com account i had which had alot of spam in the inbox0
