What Feedback To Leave

I have been recently charged £7.50 to post several items which only actually cost 90p. I complained to the seller who responded "it was in the listing", on doing some in depth checking of the listing yes it was there but you really had to hunt for it.

The question is what feedback to leave? I would appreciate your views.

I'm afraid you cant really leave bad feedback if the postage was stated in the listing. Its your responsibility to check the listing if you don't like the postage prices then don't bid on the item. You can mark him down on DSRs if you believe the costs were unfair

So, to clarify, did you not have any clue of what the postage was before bidding, as you hadn't hunted it down?

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

There was something in the listing that said maximum postage was £5, however this was refering to a link to their external website.

The true postage was hidden much further down in the listing. I am well aware that yes I should have read the the listing fully but overcharging postage by £7 is a little on the profiteering side.

Just really want views on what feedback anyone would leave. Personally I am heading towards a positive(item as described) but low P&P & maybe low for comms as well (snotty emails from seller)

There is nothing in the rules at all to stop a disgruntled buyer from leaving a neg, ebay do not like excessive postage. If a seller wished to charge a lot of extra on their postage amount then they always run the risk of poor stars or poor feedback and I am sure they factor that into their business model and decide the risks are worth it.

There may be nothing in the rules about it but personally leave a negative over that puts the buyer in a bad light.

If the difference isn't a great deal then yes I would agree, but where the difference is quite big I think it can just draw attemtion to a sellers poor practice. I personally wouldn't leave a neg, I'd hammer the stars instead, but then I would be unlikely to buy anything from a seller without knowing exactly what postage I was going to pay before I bid.

    ut

Yes thats what I would do. I always check exactly the postage. and any costs. If I think sellers are charging too much I will not buy.

If its on ebay, it tells you at the top of the page what the postage price is.

    Blame culture making it's mark....

If the parcel was sent with no postage on it, would you still be asking the question?

You can leave whatever feedback/star rating you want, and it's your own opinion, not anyone elses. But learn to take responsibility for reading listings properly, and if the listing looks too complex/confusing, then click the back button and find one that is more clear.

Yes there are sellers out there overcharging, but you do not have to buy from them. The reason they do it, is because there are plenty of people who do still pay that money for P&P - if you do not like it, then don't buy it.

personally if the listing said max £5 and then had a higher amount listed further down I wouldn't have bid, but as you did and didn't see the full amount at the time I feel a neutral or negative is acceptable. Something like "Postage listed as max £5, was charged £7.50"
