Virgin On Demand TV Choice gone for L customers - can we threaten to cancel?

So as a lot of people are probably finding out, TV Choice is no longer available to M and L customers with Virgin Media TV. I'm really annoyed about this as a lot of the stuff we liked was on there so we're probably going to have to upgrade to the XL package.

I am wondering, can I use this to get some kind of good deal out of them? Perhaps a free upgrade for a few months? I am tied in to a 12 month contract with them, but surely this is seen as a significant change to the service they are offering? Could I call up and say I want to cancel because of this change, and then they might offer a free upgrade to keep me on? has anyone done this?

It's already happened. My argument would be that they have changed their terms of service or whatever. I don't want to waste my time though if theres no point. Just don't companies should get away with this kind of thing so easily.

On Demand's a great service, might be worth seeing if it is a change of T+C's

Are you sure? I downgraded from XL to L 2 weeks ago, lost a load of channels I never used (inc Setanta and Discovery) but still have catch-up TV on demand - in fact am watching yesterday's Coronation Street as I surf.

Mind you I did have a furious row with the call centre bod first which is unusual for me but he really was a twit of the highest order.

It's only the TV Choice section of on demand that has gone, but that had some of the best stuff on it.

Never mind. I've done some more lookng into it and it looks like TV Choice has only ever supposed to have been available to XL customers. We were only getting it because of problems with their system that they are now fixing. I guess I'll have to pay the extra £7pm. :-(

If you really wnat to cancel use their recent price increase as a reason. Search the posts on here, theres a clause in your T&C that says within 30 days of them tleling you of a price increase you can cancel. Think retentions call to try and persuade you (you'd probably get the XL for free).

I do not how you feel though. On the XL package but soon be moving house and less TV viewers, looked at the L (only wanted the Hallmark) and decided in the end to just get Sky POWF (pay once watch forever) for £75 and then after 4 months if I really want all the channels will carry on otherwise just leave it!
