    Hi Chris_M,

We are doing everything we can to help all people who used this deal. In your case, you can get a refund of the £17.50 by emailing MCD on

    support(at)mycitydeal.co.uk

I emailed MCD using that email address 4 days ago. I have had no acknowledgement of that email, no acknowledgement that my order has been cancelled and no acknowledgement that a refund is being processed.

Are you going to stand by your word and intervene and help get me my money back?

  • Placed order for Bolle's on 19th May, 30th May get email saying out of stock. Today told that they cannot give an expected delivery time as supplier being vague (even though supplier has them in stock). Summer ends next week.(Offer will save me £25.....)

Despite sending two emails cancelling my order, (sent on 26th May & 2nd June), I have just received an email stating my order has been sent.

Remember Sunglasses shop contacted me *first*, (on 25th May), stating my order was out of stock and giving me the option to cancel.

I then followed their instructions in that email, cancelling my order.

For crying out loud, how difficult is it to cancel an order and issue a refund?

If the glasses do turn up, I will be refusing delivery and Sunglasses Shop will have to pay for return carriage.

I just want my £57 back!!

    My City Deals - Grubby
    Sunglasses-shop - Grubby
    MSE - Grubby

    A very grubby affair indeed.

My deal went through quickly and at the correct price. My only gripe is about the quality of case included when you are buying sunglasses for over £100, a flimsy cloth sack is not good enough!

    Proper cases please.
  • I'm lucky because I live quite close to the shop. I went there to try on the sunglasses, although I still had to order via the internet to get the deal.
I found the staff in there really friendly and helpful - obviously this may have changed later as they got busier.
My problem was that, after I had taken the time to go to the shop, the manager or owner had told the staff that they could only let customers try on glasses that were on the shop floor, and not to go to the storeroom to let them try others if they were using the MCD voucher. Obviously not enough profit in it for him/her.
You'd think that at a time when money is short they would be falling over themselves to deal with the extra business, even at reduced margins. I think the problems with this deal have come from the arrogance of the boss of Sunglasses Shop.
To be fair, my sunglasses arrived within a couple of days, as advertised, but I do think I got in on the deal pretty early.
MCD came up with a really good deal, and MSE passed it on in good faith, as they always do.

Well, I AM a happy customer anyway! Admittedly, there was a problem with the order from the Sunglass Shop website - my code had to be reset twice & then when I ordered the website told me there was 'No Order' when I clicked on Checkout. BUT! Jamie at Sunglass Shop was extremely helpful (thanks!) - he asked me to e-mail him my order & c-card details & my RayBan Clubmasters arrived the following day, I think it was. And, incidentally, UPS knocked on the door to deliver.
Expect the worst & hope for the best...
  • I would just like to say to all these "perfect world" people I think, considering the "virual" scale of this promotion Sunglasses shop did a good job and I didn't have a perfect order at all!!

People have to accept that if your "part of a massive deal" then companies will not be able to react the same as on a normal day .... if they had operations that matched this sort of massive peak they would go out of business in a day!

    My story
My order got confused on the web!
I had a quick email from someone at Sunglasses Shop. I gave them a call, it was all sorted out (Thank you Helena)
No my order wasn't shipped the next day! - such is life.
My order then actually arrived completely wrong.
So I contacted them (a couple of times) BUT
The were courteous, proactive and arranged an exchange and all was corrected the next day.

So even with a huge spike in orders, and a problem Order, compared to most companies Sunglasses Shop Customer Service was actually good :T, the Deal was good .... I get confused what people expect sometimes. Things do go wrong but if they are corrected ... that's a good thing not a bad thing.
