Does anyone know whether the same terms and conditions apply for spa offers? i bought a voucher from my city deal for £35 worth of massage treatments for Radcliffes in Glasgow. At the time of booking a 45 minute massage was £35 going by their price list online. When I booked my appointment this was confirmed by the receptionist. however, a month later when i go for mymassage, I'm told I'm only booked in for a half hour massage and they're fully booked that day so there was nothing they could do about it. When I spoke to the manager regarding this she told me that the my city deal only worked for a 30 min massage as the price for that was £35. Having been to the same spa 4 weeks later for a 30 minute massage as part of a hen night, i knew it should only have been £25 since that what I paid then. When I asked the manager about this she said they had put their prices up recently and that they were so busy with the my city deal vouchers that they wouldn't have offered a longer treatment.

I feel totally scammed. Obviously they have put the prices up after the vouchers have been sold so that you can only use your vouchers for the most basic massage treatment possible. Is there anything i can do about this?

Email the MSE Team, I think there is a contact address on the thread on the Grabbit board. They have said they will look into complaints, please report back as to how you get on. ;)

One thing I have noticed with mycitydeal is that their advertising (which is everywhere) is very misleading - the headline always says 90% off but how many "deals" (if any) does this actually apply to?

A case for the ASA perhaps?

eg: Below is their Google adwords ad but some on sites are more targeted eg: using your ip address to say for example "90% off at bars in Edinburgh" - of course when you go to the site there is no such offer! Their banner ads also have 90% off in huge letters.

    90% off with online deals

Perhaps that is one reason why mycitydeal scam is one of the top searches on Google when you type in mycitydeal? :)

Establishing the full facts before the event negates the need for clairvoyancy doesn't it ?

....Martin's post (i.e. Martin's post on the other thread, now that he has a post on this) has been edited several times by now, including the partly contradictory insert recently by Archna that this (i.e that) thread is about monitoring whether people are being treated fairly, but if they want to complain, in other words if they think they aren't being treated fairly, then don't post on this (i.e. that) but the other (i.e. this) thread....

Just got my UPS notification, so they should be here in a couple of days (shop staff are obviously working on this lovely sunny Sunday to get these out).

What went wrong? Not much as it goes. Got my Oakleys at a great price and not had to wait long at all. Simples.

Bunch of drama queens, I'm personally happy. Thanks to MCD, Sunglesses Shop and MSE.

"I think this company are taking some serious liberties. First they tell us we wont get the 'next day' delivery, which was advertised and paid for in good faith (and usually free on this site). Then they up the prices. Yet i ordered at 08:30 this morning and the prices had already gone up, but i did not notice until later as i was in a rush. Got this email from about an hour ago...

    Quote:
As a result of the huge popularity of the Sunglasses Shop deal, stocks of popular ranges have been severely depleted. This has led to unforeseen increased costs stemming from Sunglasses Shop’s various suppliers, which in turn have resulted in automated price rises on the website itself.
    Automated price rises... yeah, whatever.

It's gone from a really good deal to a good one and i am still pleased to be getting my Polarised Oakley Fives Squared at a good price, which i planned to buy anyway, but i don't expect to see them any time soon. I probably wont be using this retailer again or recommending them really.

At the end of the day, i with delivery (which i know we were told about) and the price hike, plus the fact that retailer was not the cheapest to begin with, mean the saving is not that amazing. I think would have spent the money i saved and been sure of next day delivery.

I just hope they can get these glasses out ASAP, mud sticks on the interwebs"

    It certainly does

Yes, they cocked up and got criticised for it by us. However they took on board what we said and rectified the situation. I am now more than happy, what more can you ask for? I also said in another thread that I myself also might have over reacted a bit. I wonder how many other people will fess up to that? It is possible for people to change they opinion of someone based on that persons actions.

However, some people have gone way to far and have acted in a terrible and pathetic manor.

Again, thank to all involved for sorting this all out.

    Anyway, what was you point?
  • Hi - Reading this reminds me of the Jonathan Ross fiasco. Everyone complaining because there are others moaning! I am not sure about any one else out there, but I have just purchased an amazingly priced pair of sunglasses and I am happy. Having a read on the forum they are overwhelmed with customers emailing over nothing and they are dealing with it and keeping people in the look. If I have to wait a bit extra to get my sunglasses then fair enough. I say well done Sunglasses Shop and thank you MSE for bringing me this fantastic deal. People, don't frighten off companies offering promotions that benefit the consumer so greatly, or all we will have left to buy are £10 shopping Tesco vouchers.

I would like to know how many 'click thru's' MSE received from this advert. At £6 per successful click, I think MSE should give a few thousand to charity from these proceeds, not to the researchers (who didn't research this website's history). Martin you are losing credibility from these posts, first Ice-save and now this, and your very quick to distance yourself from these posts after you have advertised them.
