Cheapest Nintendo DSi console: get one half-price if you trade an old console

Hello
I work as a sales assistant with video games etc, and think I can help clear some of the issues mentioned up. Sorry if i repeat anything.
Gamestation are doing an introductary offer to trade in your old DS Lite for £75 only when it is towards the new DSi. They only do the DSi in bundles, but the cheapest one is at the base price of the DSi anyway. So yep, you get the console, a starter pack, and choice of game free. The offer is meant to have finished, but many stores will do it anyway as a good will gesture. The normal trade in price for a DS Lite is £55.
I would not reccommend going to CEX for trade-in. If you attempt to trade-in for cash you will get told that they have 'no money in the tills'. Go on, give it a go! They do offer better trade-in prices for in-store goods BUT they only sell second-hand goods, and often at an inflated price. You will sometimes find that they offer more trade-in value for an item than one of the other retailers is actually selling the item for.
As for the R4 issue, it is not simply a case of the R4 not working with the DSi, attempting to use one will break your console, kaput. There is a clause somewhere on the box stating this. As someone mentioned, while there may be more software in development to get around this, the DSi upgrades through the internet, is it worth the risk?0 -
Nintendo has chosen to
encumber this new version with Digital Restrictions Management (DRM).
* <http://www.defectivebydesign.org/nintendo-dsi-infected-with-drm>
and if any of these restrictions are broken, Nintendo can update
your console's firmware via both new game cartridges and over the air

I managed to get my DSi for the grand total of £55!!
The offer in my local game was trade in 14 ds games, get the dsi with accessory pack and 2 years insurance.
After shopping around HMV, Gamestation & Blockbuster, managed to get 14 games for the total price of £55!
Saved me over £100, thanks for posting the advice on this.
A reminder, this offer ends 22nd April if anyone is interested in doing it.0 -

I think it depends on your local store, but in Peterborough (as the post above) & Leeds, so it must be national, there is an offer on where you bring any 2 ds games in and trade them in for £25 credit against another ds purchase. The posters in the store say something along the lines of trade 2 ds games in, get a new ds game worth £29.99, for £4.99. When this offer was first brought out, I have read about people taking the 2 games in and getting £25 credit onto store cards to be used against ANY purchase, be it a PS3, Xbox, anything you want. When I rang my local game store they told me the offer was £25 credit towards any purchase in the ds range, or 14 games for the dsi. There is no specific list of games, just that they had to be english and have the instructions and box. I went to HMV, blockbuster and gamestation, the cheapest game I found was American Dragon for £2. They weren't too bothered about if you had duplicate games, but said if you brought more than 5 or 6 of the same game you would be pushing your luck a bit. The total cost of the 14 games I purchased was around £55, so that was the cost of the dsi, including 2 years accidental damage insurance and accessory pack. BTW the offer ends 22nd April, so you will need to be quick if you want to try this deal.0 -
I've just taken in Sonic Rush and My Pet Alien for the DS and got £25 credit onto a gift card for use against anything at a later date.
I tried scouring the local shops for cheapo used games but the cheapest I found were 2 for £20. Considering I was only doing it to store up some credit for Christmas, it didn't seem worth it when I could probably buy whatever I was buying cheaper elsewhere.Herman - MP for all!0 -

hi
i have traded 24 games in now and have had 2 dsi's, the offer seems to change we phoned our local games to see who was doing this offer and out of all the games within reasonable distance to us there are only 2, they take any games (my store wont take multipes of the same game, or the ea games pack being sold on argos), we then took our dsi's over to cex to trade for £125.00 each not bad for some old games kicking around that would only be worth a couple of quid. there is a huge thread all about this on hotukdeals http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/370769/trade-in-12-nintendo-ds-games-get-a/0 -
I was wondering if anyone knew whether Ipswich or Chelmsford where allowing the £25 credit on a gift card, or if the credit could be used towards a DS lite rather than a DSi (as will not have enough games at home for a DSi)?0
