Hmmm... I'm not sure the results would be lasting. But yes, in principle it's possible and it depends on how fussed you are about the results. But I defer to the more experienced DIYers, which I am not...Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

There are special tile paints for this job but I am not sure if they are any good.... or how expensive#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

we used eggshell paint to do a temporary job 5 years ago and they are still good - not in the bathroom thoughI haven't got one!0

When I moved into my flat 4 years ago I painted over the tiles using satin gloss, it looked great for ages but condensation/water has got underneath it and it's peeling off!! It scratches easily aswell.
Next time I'm going to use the proper tile paint!!0 -
My brother and his wife painted over the tiles in their kitchen with tile paint, and it looked really good. It took them ages though, as they were doing a multi coloured pattern! Here I go again on my own....0

International do a good range of tile paints and they are available in most major DIY stores. Never used it myself, but have heard good reports about it. It's important to do everything properly, in terms of putting on a primer and top coat (to seal and stop condensation making it peel), but some of the paints do not require a primer.0

Yes it is possible to do so, but it is as you asked for a quick cheap fix.
Ideally you should retile, actually over the old tiles as tiles are the best surace to tile onto, starnge I know but thats how it is. (dont ask me the science behind it).
A good quality eggshell paint is okay but a bathroom is very wet all the time and will prob peel very soon.Money's too tight to mention!!!0 -
I knew International did a tile paint , but in Asda today I noticed they sell a tile paint made by Ronseal and it says no primer required on it.
Just found it on the Ronseal site , THIS IS ITSame old same old since 20080 -
Hiya
my friend moved into her house 6 years ago and painted the tiles in her kitchen, with B&Q's own tile paint. It is just starting to look shabby now ( her words not mine) but it's def a good idea and it covers really well, it's not bumpy looks a professional finish. Not sure how much it was though0 -
I've been told by neighbours who've painted over ceramic tiles that the key to success is to use tile paint by any manufacturer, which is improving all the time, and to ensure the tiles are thoroughly clean - a final wipe down with white spirit is helpful - and that tiles are bone dry and not exposed to moisture or steam for several days. Apply with a small roller for a good finish and remember the grout will be the same colour as the tile paint used so if white grout is preferred a white grout pen has to be used after painting.0
