Has anyone ever used a virtual fax company?
As im setting up my business at home (alone without the banks help I may add) So i need to be as cost effective as possible.
If I went and brought a fax machine I would have to either get a second phone line or use my line now. So two costs.
.......and (she smile) is I love my portable phone at home...I can talk to people when cooking cleaning or lying in bed if I changed that for a fax...I would have to sit right next to it to talk to mum.
So i was looking into a virtual fax...what are your opinions?

In Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00
In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T

I don't think you need a machine or a 2nd line.
To receive, you can get fax to email service from several providers. Many would give you an 0870 number free of charge, but some people dislike this as it costs more to phone them. Or you could get an ordinary are code number for about £2 a month. My view is a single page fax is probably going to cost 5p minimum charge whatever the number, so why worry.
For sending, Windows XP has Fax service included, but not installed by default - look in Control Panel > Add/Remove > Windows Components and get your Windows XP disk ready. It works from Office documents just the same as a printer, or you can make new ones. Calls are made using your dial-up modem, so if you have broadband this means no interruption to computer use.0 -
Do a search of this board as we talked about this very subject not long ago. I'm afraid my brain hurts too much to do it for you tonight ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

To send, I use Tiscali (http://fax.tiscali.co.uk) - it costs 10p per page to send. You can also receive faxes. There's no annual fee.
I use faxtastic to receive (https://www.faxtastic.co.uk). No annual fee but 0870 number.

From Faxtastic's website, it seems that only 0871 is free - this can't be called from abroad. 0870 is £20/year.
There used to be more free options around - eFax used to offer 0870 free at one time.0 -

Yes I agree, since sending is not such a problem. Through everyones replies I have learned that I can do that from my PC
Receiving is the problem, I want to receive international faxes for free to my PC.
Thank you everyone for your replies, I will check out all the websites and have a look to see which is the best option for meIn Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00 :eek:In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T0
