Hi,
We would like to buy a room heater to keep our first baby warm (she was born on Thursday, 2nd March). OH says we should buy an oil heater.
Is it ok to buy an oil heater to keep the baby warm? If yes, any suggestions where can I buy this?
Please advice!

the heater we had, and they last for years was mk1 range oil filled panel heater i think in the long run it would be cheaper to run than a convector heater but they might be dearer although you could advertise for a second hand one0

Do be careful not to overheat!
If you get growbags they come with a thermometer to tell you what layers they should be wearing at the current temperature, that way your baby is kept at the right temperature, regardless of the heat of the room
A friend of mine's child had a fit because they had become too hot, very frightening!0 -
thats why i said about panel heater being best you can have them down really low and wont come on unless really cold0

I'd second what Counting_Pennies said about getting a grobag.... they're fab... and keep the baby at the same temp regardless of what room they're in.... I also know someone who's baby became ill because his room was too hot... you have to make sure your room thermometer is in the right place (ie where baby is sleeping)... but with grobags they can stay in them when feeding, sleeping, even in the car seat.....

thanks Counting_Pennies and purplepurple :-)
sounds like an excellent suggestion! i will check the website

We had one of these:

It didn't throw out loads of heat, and I mainly used it during the colder weather just to keep the chill off the room. Here I go again on my own....0
