She tried that but he just clamps his mouth shut!
I've told her to be firmer - put him down but chat to him and also to try to make him feed when she wants him to today! I'm hard i'm afraid.

It is so hard to let them cry though! My health visitor suggested I go for a shower or hoover or something for 10minutes so I can't hear him if he's just playing up...

I'd be able to claim a job grant of £250 but it's only one off so wouldn't help afford the childcare til Ash started school :(
I am sure that a friend of mine who has gone back to work is getting £40/60 a week extra which would help with childcare.... I would go for an interview just to see if I was you!

    IA~Go for interview~good experience.
You are probably looking at a late May/early June start at the earliest.
Sure you could pick up a runaround really cheaply.
Dont dismiss as out of hand.

I agree - you could always just be honest with them and say that you have these issues to overcome but that you are looking into ways to make it possible. They might even have suggestions.

If they offer you a job, you could look into car sharing etc.

Does Ash start full time in September? I might get shouted at for this but if you had to borrow the money to pay for childcare for the first 4 or 5 months, (assuming you have to cover a shortfall of about £200 a month - but it might not even be that much, AND you will have a salary coming in) wouldn't that be an investment?

You've just borrowed the equivalent of more than one months worth for a washing machine (and that's not a dig I promise, because obviously you did need a washing machine! Just saying that to point out that it might not be as scary a thought as you imagine).
