washing powder not dissolving in machine

The washing powder does not seem to be dissolving properly in my washing machine and is being left on the clothes. Does anyone know why this is?

    Crap washing powder.
  • I have tried several washing powder, including Fairy, Ariel, ect. I think something must be wrong with the machine.

I Would guess at the fact the water is not heating up and melting the powder, maybe your heating element has gone.
  • I would definately guess the same as bluemorph.

    Hello verynewmoneysaver

Are you following the dose instructions fully? It's so easy to guess the correct amount and get it wrong.;)

I always use powder (not tablets or liquid) and have marked a plastic cup (with black lines) to make it easy to get the correct amount for each load.

    Is your water very soft?

Mine is, and I find I have to use less than what the packet says, otherwise I get the same problem as you. Very moneysaving though!
Here I go again on my own....

We had the same problem when we bought a £500 washing machine from Comet. When they came out to fix it, he tried a few things like making the rear of the machine higher than the front. No luck, so he advised us to use liquid which we now do. I was not very happy at the time though.

Firstly have you checked the filter at the front of the machine ? secondly is there a smell from inside the washing machine ?
