Yes I have just been "robbed" by this company, CCS LTD, (car care systems) same logo and phone numbers as Car Clamping Systems, head office registration is an accommodation address in London, company director, of which only one, his address is in Cyprus. Have acquired a CCJ against them but as previously posted how can it be served when they dont appear to have an office address. I have also informed the SIA, worse than useless, their only concern seems to be in getting registration fees irrespective of the applicants background. Allegedly, 4 people associated with this company received prison sentences for fraud in 2009, and that there may be more prosecutions to follow. However I intend to pursue the landowner to try to recover my money. Incidentally there are a number of highly reputable companies and corporations on their site, do they know who they are dealing with, if indeed they actually are.0

The company will have a bank account.
I am in a rush but suggest you look at the County Courts Act 1984. They are a judgement debtor and you are a creditor.0 -
I believe this same company was featured on BBC's 'Rogue Traders' a while back.0

This is so common, and the Government refuses point-blank to do anything about it.
Unfortunately, the only effective remedy for clamping is the use of angle-grinders. Once you've paid, you'll never see a penny of your money again,0 -

...unless people take the clampers AND the landowner/business occupier who contracted them, BOTH to the Small Claims Court. Both are 'jointly and severally' liable so both should be hauled before the Court for any unfair/extortionate clamping.
Suing a clamper alone is utterly pointless.
Landowners & businesses have assets and cannot get away as easily as clampers can!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This is probably the best piece of advice you will see in this forum. It really should be stickied."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "0 -
I agree in principle, but the problem comes when:
1) clampers operate without the authority of any landowner (as here), meaning that you can't go after the landowner, or
2) ignorant county court judges accept the landowner's claim not to be liable for the actions of their agents (as has happened to posters on this forum several times)0 -
In which case the problem is in getting the police to take an interest.0
-
That's where the problem lies- as in this thread, and as in many, many others on CAB, pepipoo and these forums:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=52245
the police and IPCC will simply insist "it's a civil matter" even after the landowners themselves complain about the unauthorised clamping.
It's all very well saying "call the police", but all the evidence suggests this simply does not work, as the police will simply take the clampers' side.
Even in the (very rare) cases where clampers have been convicted of blackmail, their victims still never see a penny of their money again.
This is why angle-grinders are truly the only solution- to all practical intents and purposes, no other (remotely effective) remedy exists.
If anyone disagrees, would they care to suggest an alternative remedy, given the inaction of the police (when not ordering victims to pay on pain of arrest for "causing a public order offence"), and the total ineffectiveness of the county courts and bailiffs in enforcing CCJs against clamping firms?0 -
One clamping firm (located in Southend) has at least 15 unpaid CCJs against its name and it's still out there clamping people. As well as the CCJs, it's using a VAT number that actually belongs to a well-known bank, it pretends to be CIA registered, when its not, and one of their vans was clamped recently for being untaxed. What does it take to have these crooks closed down? What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
