PS3 - Backwards compatible?
Comments

I do think its a shame the PS3 is half of what it should have been (and was promised by sony) and the removing backwards compatibility wasn't the final nail, but is one of the many nails which means I still don't own one.
It seems if you only want to play games the 360 is far better value, if you want games + media capabilities the PS3 is better, but for not much more you could build a PC which beats both consoles into the ground.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

They've sorted out backwards compatibility with the Singstar collection (PS2 Singstar games now work on all PS3's) so maybe they'll come up with something for other game series......What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0

Don't you need to have a PS3 version of it in order to use the PS2 ones?
I though it just read the song data off the old disks.0 -

Yep, with the PS3 game in the console just hit the square 'select' button & then change discs & you can play the PS2 games as normal.......What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -
I'm glad I found this thread. We were going to get a PS3 (80gb) but changed our minds as wanted it really for singstar. Seems like we can get one after all and will be able to use our PS2 discs!
I take it buzz isn't compatible though yet

No Buzz isn't, although the wired buzzers can be used (even along with the new wireless ones, giving 8 players)........ :beer:What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -

I believe you need the PS3 singstar game and you can then swap the discs and use the old songs from the PS2 discs.
I hope your not buying a PS3 just to play singstar, talk about wasting money. But its not my money so carry on.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
