Must have been a problem at BTs end with their DNS servers or something? I have BT BroadBand and could access Google by IP Address but not by typing google.com :consfused:
Fine now :j0 -
Yeah, I am sure it was a problem their end - but they'd rather die than admit it.0

It wasn't anything to do with your broadband connection or BT, the problem was with gmail systems itself. Gmail users were having problems accessing gmail because of a fault that lies with the conflict caused by firewalls that users have on their computers or systems. It was something to do with the 3rd party cookie control that is utilised in your firewall setup.
The way it told me to get round this was to add "www.gmail.com" to my list of sites that is ok to access on my firewall, clean the cache and log back on, it worked as well. Looks like that problem has been fixed as others have reported to get back on.0 -
How did you know that???? I've been in my Gmail account and been using Google all this morning with no problems using AOL. If it was a firewall problem it would have affected other than BT users.*!*HIBS*!* wrote:It wasn't anything to do with your broadband connection or BT, the problem was with gmail systems itself. arrrgh.
Both Google and gmail have just c*****d out again!
Looks like somebody is doing weekend 'maintenance' work?
It's so annoying
As soon as gmail works again, I'll fire off something to the gmail support team. Won't call BT again because they'll only read though their script which says something with my computer's config must be wrong :mad:0 -
Yep same here! grrrrrr
Just changed my homepage from Google to Yahoo but can't login to any of my gmail/googlemail emails either.
Methinks some spotty teenagers eating russian pizzas are launching an attack on anything Google! :rolleyes:0 -

When I tried to go onto gmail, it showed a problem page and solution on how to get it temporarily fixed whilst they sort out the problem. It worked for me.
It might be partly to do with BT, but also sometimes the problems lies with the login page of gmail, and not necessarily affect users whilst they have already logged in. You might have been lucky after you signed in cos the problem may have affected others sometime after you logged into gmail. A few times when I have played a game online and the people I talk to the following day said that they couldn't log in even though I and some others were able to.0
