I have been looking to change ISP for some time, currently with AOL & BT, I am looking for a cheaper but better phone and ISP package (don't want much!!!).
One thing to point out to other MoneySavers, when I enquired with a TalkTalk Rep (are they all called Emma?), one thing they don't advertise, apart from in the call charge price list, is if the phone line goes down you would be liable to pay for BT Openreach to fix the line £97.00 Call Out + £63.00 per hour with a minimum of 1 hour callout.
With BT you only pay if it is your equiptment that is faulty!

Hi Slf3,
I think there has been a little mis-understanding during your conversation with the rep (not all called Emma - but there are a few of us that are!). With TalkTalk you would only pay for an engineer call out if the problem was found to be with your equipment. We do not charge for repairs in general - only ones caused by faulty customer maintained equipment as BT do. The fees you have been quotes are almost correct as the call out fee covers the first hour also.
Cheers

Having recently signed up with Talk Talk and having had a smooth and easy transition and no problems so far, I was horrified to read some of the stories on here and just kept my fingers crossed it didn't happen to me. Well, the other night I got home and...you guessed it....no internet access, ADSL light flashing and no internet light on the router. Called Talk Talk and got through within minutes. Was advised to change microfilters and call back if the problem persisted. I did and it didn't solve a thing. I started worrying, remembering the horror stories on here etc already imagining how I am going to get out of the contract etc. Anyway, called back, gave my "ticket number" and was given another number to ring for "2nd line" support. Although they are 0870 numbers, I am assured they are free from Talk Talk lines. Anyway, long story short, the chap was able to restore my line over the phone with me doing some things my end and him doing others on his end ....and I breathed a sigh of relief. My only complaint was that it took me 20 mins to get through to this "2nd line" support (9pm on Sat night).
Admittedly, my problem may have been a simple one to fix in the grand scheme of things but it has shown me that while I don't deny others have had their share of problems, Talk Talk do get things right sometimes too........0 -
