CHILTERN CLAIMS in liquidation

Can anyone help, maybe you, Martin Lewis? This site recommended Chiltern Claims to reclaim bank charges. I have a claim with them but they have now gone into liquidation and my claim is stuck somewhere with the Ombudsman.

Any ideas what I should do, as I made the claim nearly 2 years ago and have heard nothing.....

hi we too had a claim in with chiltern claims just read your post and as our claim had just got to the ombudsman two days before the hold was put in place i rang the ombudsman direct, they had nothing on us in the records they hold but as we are claiming hardship drafted a letter to our bank asking to look at our case which they sent directly from them for us, the good news is whatever we get back won't have chilterns cut deducted and the ombudsman will send the letter for you just ring them (contact number on their website) and they will do it all for you over the phone. easier than using chiltern actually should have gone direct to them in the first place as i would have been paid out long before the court case as my sister did it that way 3 weeks after we started ours and was paid out 2 years ago now!

I also had a claim going through with chiltern claims, they had got in touch with my bank and got my statements and told me what i was owed, then it was all put on hold. i phoned back a while ago and just got to leave a msg on the answer machine, i phoned today and the number no longer exists, i can`t find thier websit either.
If this company has gone belly up and does not exist can i just start another claim with someone else? Surely i can`t be somehow tied in with a company that does not exist.
  • i have also got a claim with chiltern.been ongoing for a couple of years. what do i do now?

Does anyone else think this is weird? All posters are newbies and all in the same style text and grammer. Or am I being too suspicious

Well I am another new user who just found this link on a Yahoo search.

I made several Claims with Chiltern, and they paid several out, but not the last two because of the legal action etc.

The guy I was dealing with (Edward Bolton) told me that my case had been passed to the Ombudsman, and the rest is a waiting game.

I never heard back and I tried them recently - and they've gone.

My concern is that the claim was near to the 6yr duration, and so if I start it again, will I now not have the right to claim it back ???

I saw Chiltern Claims recommened on GMTV, and also mentioned on a BBC link... which I cant post cos I am a new user. But it was an article titled
"Banks backing down over charges " dated 12th Jan 2007.

which I why I used them.

Does anyone know how/where I stand with all of this ??

    Cheers,
    Chris

Call the Ombudsman, they are very good in these kind of cases and will let you take the claim over yourself and send you copies of the documentation they have so you can take the case over yourself.
