What Exactly Is A Spring Clean?

i don't do a spring clean as such, but come the warmer weather nets come down and are washed, and i give the windows a once over. but everything else sort of gets done throughout the year. clothes are cleared out twice a year at change to summer from winter and back again, toys are cleared out before birthday and xmas, and kitchen cupboards are done every six months or so to check for nearly out of date stuff, and to keep them clean.

I start to notice things about this time every year and I am sure it is the start of the wake-up after chugging along during the winter. I actually begin to feel like doing certain jobs, whereas in winter it is a case of `oh I must do this or that`
Vinegar in warm water this morning and a nice well-washed and slightly rougher, micro-fibre cloth. I am half way through the inside windows and by golly they are sparkling, after a quick final wipe with a dry mc cloth. While I was at it, mirrors, cabinet doors, pc screens and so on. I have no intention of doing all the spring cleaning at once but this morning I will do the things I can with water and vinegar until I get the next `urge`and then I may start on kitchen cupboards, tops and drawers, skirtings and so on.
Do you spring clean and how do you tackle it?0 -
With my lot I spring clean, summer clean, autumn clean..well you get the picture
I have found those magic eraser thingys (available in woolies, kleeneze etc) to be great for our house as they remove really stubborn marks..made by really stubborn children :rotfl: I use the fly lady cleaning plan as a check list adapted to our rooms

I must admit the whole house get's a scrub down every Friday here!!! But then with 3 plus dogs it's kinda a must!! All the floors are laminated wood or tiles (only carpet in the bedroom where the dogs aren't allowed!!). Saturday is dusting day! and Sunday is dog cleaning day!! Clean the dogs and the house normally says longer for longer!!!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

Hi all
We have a recent thread asking about spring cleaning and so I've merged the two together. If you want any advice on spring cleaning watch Anthea Turner The perfect houswife BBC3 8pm I guarantee you will feel like a crap housewife when you have finished watching it. There is nothing she doesn't do and even checks for dust wearing white gloves.. I Watched it and then l looked around my house in horror, and I thought my house was clean.0

I do "spring clean", except I do it it November/December. Its nice to get the dirt out the way before the Christmas decs go up, otherwise I find all the odd areas I've missed cleaning during the year! Not to mention that spring cleaning in Spring is an exercise in futility when you own 2 dogs who start shedding hair everywhere at that exact time!!0

Just finished "spring-cleaning" and have managed to sell things I didn't need anymore for a total of £60 on ebay. First time it's been worth the effort!

Well, I have to say I rarely clean at all! I'm not quite at the Quentin Crisp stage (who allegedly never washed up and just chucked his dirty plates away instead!) but I must admit I've got so much else to do (attempting to do up a house on no income) that the house is always a mess anyway!
Any one want another house to clean?Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
