The RAM is upgradeable and easily accessible, but it doesn't have many internal slots available for cardsThanks to all who post constructively.

johno69 wrote:I have just purchased the Inspiron 1300 with upgraded memory screen and battery for £350 delivered. Can someone please advise will I be able to upgrade the laptop with a new graphics card once it arrives. If so for a budget of £40 could anyone recommend a card which would be sufficient for this machine. I read one of the earlier posts which states that the Ram is easily upgradeable, but I have read others which have said that this laptop might might not be upgradeable at all, is this correct.
Thanks in advance!
You cannot upgrade the graphics card. That applies to most laptops
Extra RAM can be fitted. An extra 512MB will be enough0 -
Hi there.
I have managed to add the Dell Laptop into my basket the home (consumer) section for £288.47. Is there another voucher code for free delivery?

Interested in buying a Wireless mini PCI card from ebay/ebuyer to install into my new cheap Dell Inspiron1300.
Does the 1300 have the antenna cable already fitted???
What is the best card to buy?
cheers...Derek_Duval wrote:The ones that have built in wifi have a mini pci wifi card, I've seen these on ebay for £13.99 , so you might be able to do a cheap upgrade. You will need to connect to the built in antenna, many notebooks that don't have the wifi card still have the built in antenna's, but I'm not 100% sure about the 1300. The card fits under the same panel as the memory, so maybe someone who has bought one without wifi, & is upgrading the memory could check to see if the antenna cable is there when they upgrade. The antenna's can also be bought on ebay if it doesn't have one.
The card I've seen on ebay is a dell 1350, where the one that comes in the laptop is a 1370, so this one is just a slightly older revision.0 -

Thats the one thing that put me off the old offer without wifi, the fact that antennas may not be present.
AFAIK you need to install the antennas behind the screen or under the keyboard, bit of a daunting task to say the least, and will PROBABLY void the warranty but dont quote me on that
Cant see the 1300 having the antenna already there, would be extra expense to go to when they are leaving the card out. 125mbps USB dongles are about a tenner at Ebuyer......
HTH, although it probably wont :cool:0 -
The result of the Advertising Standards Agency adjudication against Dell for this campaign has been published today. The full text can be found here:
http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/adjudications/non_broadcast/Adjudication+Details.htm?Adjudication_id=41316
There were 48 complaints upheld against Dell for this Inspiron 1300 campaign. The adverts were found to have breached the CAP Code for truthfulness, sales promotion rules of introduction and sales promotion rules of administration!0 -
What's the socket on the left that looks like a PCMCIA slot but isn't?0
