Help with Three.

Hi Hoping someone can help. Since last Thursday now I have been unable to make a call or recieve one.

When I try to make a call I either get a message saying "signal busy" or "Error in connection". I had a conversation with a Three customer advisor yesterday who basically told me over and over that the signal strength was good in the area I live. I explained that may be the case but I can't make or recieve a call. I was then asked what version of software my phone is using which is Nokia 6500s-1 Version 04.81 I was then told that my software is so out of date that it must be that.

Now I am no expert but I can send and recieve Text messages, I can connect to the internet and I have a full 3G signal so that does not make sense to me.

Can anyone give me any ideas???

Cheers

If you can send text messages, then your reception is perfectly ok. You can update the software either directly on the phone, but this might be expensive, or if you have a USB cable, then you can do it via your computer. To do this you need to download Nokia PC suite, and then choose the update option. Remember to backup all the contents of your phone or else some things might be lost!

I doubt it is this however as the phone seemed to be working fine before hand. Are you sure that you haven't activated call barring on your phone?

The ability to send/receive texts is no confirmation that your phone will be able to make and receive voice calls, as data often gets through when switched circuit (voice) calls cannot.

I donlt believe it is a firmware issue with your handset, as all new firmware will always be backwards compatible. What you need to do is swap your SIM card into another phone, and try making those calls again. If this works, then your phone is the culprit and you should take it to a dealer for it to be tested. If it DOESN'T then your customer profile IMSI number and data may be corrupted on their system, and you should report it as a fault.
