I'd try The Railway Museum, Castle Museum, Jorvik and Cliffords Tower. York is a fantastic place, theres always something going on..........loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0

Thanks to all for the suggestions. We tried many of them and had a wonderful time. York Minster was definitely the highlight.
On the way back to Merseyside we stopped at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (close to Leeds) and that was £4 (for parking) well spent! Very enjoyable.0 -
You've probably already been but if you are planning on walking from the hostel into town, you can walk along the river but it can get very muddy if it's been raining.
I'd recommend the railway museum it's ace! Oh and Cath Kidston has a shop which is fun to just browse.:p0 -
Just been to York over the easter weekend and had a good time. The Kids loved walking along the city walls and the ghost walk too. Jorvik is really very poor, its so dated, small ( crowded / rushed ) and expensive, do the the castle museum instead.
