BT broadband option 1 £9.50 per month

Hi all, I haven't posted before but just thought I'd let you know what happened when I called BT to give notice to cancel my broadband.
I have my mobile phone with Orange so was calling BT to cancel as I can get my broadband with orange for just under £10. When I spoke to BT and told them she put me on hold for a couple of minutes then came back and said I could have my broadband option 1 with them for £9.50 per month on a 12 month contract instead of the advertised £15 something. Also my current contract is not due to end until end of May (currently paying £18 per month) but she has scrapped that and my new contract starts from 7th April.
May have got them on a good day but definitely worth the call, expecially as I don't have the hassle of changing provider/email address etc.

Well aren't you the lucky one! I have been trying for the past couple of weeks to secure an Option 1 with BT broadband (offered to me via an "Outbound Call Centre", which means they phone you and you can't call them back!) Having at last acquired my MAC code from Pipex and each time I have phoned the ordinary BT broadband sales they offer me the web price of £15.65 for 12 months and say they can't offer me anything else. Good for you, glad to see someone has got what they want. Maybe I'll be lucky too.0

I know it is frustrating when you know others get a better price - I was really suprised when they offered me this! Having said that it is more frustrating when I have tv and phone through sky but can't get their free broadband as the exchange I am on does not have sky enabled - I have been waiting for 3 years so far for this and they still can't tell me when it will happen. Hope you get a decent deal sorted eventually.0

Funny enough I had considered signing up to Sky on their cheapest package because I assumed that if you had Sky then BB and everything else came as part of the deal. I didn't realised that the exchange had to be enabled to qualify. Mind you, I am with O2 on my phone and thought I could sign up with them, but guess what, my exchange being what it is and living where I do (the back of beyond) I would have to pay £22 something a month to get O2 BB rather than the £7.34 is the exchange was enabled! Do you have a usage limit on your package with BT or is it still 10GB as on the website?0

Same here with exchange, I can get sky but for £18 per month, hate it when they advertise something only to find I can't get it. I checked other exchanges around my area and sky is enabled on loads of them so don't know what the criteria is to get each exchange done.
I must admit I don't know the usage allowance but presume it is the same as advertised for option 1 - I don't use the internet much (apart from browsing this site) and don't download music or films. Also my phone line will only get speed of 0.5mb so pretty pointless getting anything more than the basic.0 -

FYI the price for o2 Access broadband service(i.e. on a non-LLU exchange like yours) is £22.02, or £17.13 with the o2 mobile discount. On an LLU exchange the Standard broadband service is £12.23 and £7.34 respectively. So the difference is about a tenner, not £14.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I was on option 3 with bt paying £22.50/mnth (reduced by £2 for 12 months at the last renewal - full price is normally £24.50)
I rang to cancel 2 days ago to move to virgin (I like you can't get the really cheap deal cos we live near a rural exchange) and ended up with a new 18mnth contract with BT on unlimitted option 3 - with a new black hub and broadband phone (free evening and weekend broadband calls) agreed cost is 6 months completely free and 12 months at £22.50. So it works out at only £15/mnth for 18 months.
Don't just cancel - push for a deal then push again!0
