Will do - you too.
Thanks
LAST WORD ... I know I shouldn't!!
Now, it's that "arguably" that I take issue with. Has it never occurred to you that it's only cancer patients that have such things as McMillan Nurses? Or Marie Curie nurses? Or hospices, for that matter?
Cancer affects such a large proportion of our society (1 in 3) that the resources reflect this. It does not necessarily mean that cancer patients receive more support per head.
But you just said that only cancer patients "arguably" should receive this.
Noooooooo. I said that anyone with life-threatening illness should be prioritized. It's merely my own view.
So, if you think I've been "judgemental"
I was referring to all posts made by you to me and to the OP in respect of cancer. I hope you note that I said this was my impression and apologized accordingly if I'd read you wrong.
I make no apology for my view. I think in general this has been a healthy, if heated, discussion.
Wow, if you think that this is heated, you must be new here!0 -

Glad to have some humour!! Thanks.
Sorry about your own position, re children. Was basing on your two-month turn-a-round you cited in previous post. Just shows the limitations of forums in understanding respective points of view. I'm a dad myself, so this would be difficult for me.0 -
Can we please all remember to be nice to other moneysavers. I think that we are all agreed that those facing any major health concern should receive help and support, be that financial, emotional or physical. Again I think in reality we all agree that to lie on a claim for benefit is wrong and that to put the worse evr day you have had would be wrong, but if your worse day is 25 % of the time that should be mentioned. All the best to everyone and remember that although you may have passed your 5 year milestone others may not, so compassion is important.0

People can recover from cancer unlike many conditions, for example MND where people with the disease deteriotate until death so why should cancer sufferers be given special treatment from the NHS?

Yes Motor Neurone Disease ( I hate acronyms they are elitist) is debilitating and I don't think anyone is advocating that cancer patients be fast tracked ahead of other patients - forgive me if I am wrong James - , but all those in need of help should be dealt with expeditiously.
However this thread is not about my illness is worse than yours, but someone facing a battle wanting soem advice about how to manage financially - the question has been dealt with very well in this specific instance Macmillan nurses have the resources. For other illnesses there possibly isn't the resources of the Macmillan nurses and this is deplorable, there should be.0 -
Just wanted to say sorry I got a bit cross and used some rather strong statements. I hope I didn't offend anyone - I just believe really strongly that everyone should be treated equally.0

And just when, on this thread has anyone been anything other than nice to anyone else?

Absolutely no offence taken Qwerty. Besides I’m as ‘guilty’ as the next for using emotive language – it’s a highly emotive issue!
And Patchwork – I couldn’t agree more. As I hope I made clear I was referring to all life-threatening illnesses. I think the problem is endemic in the system which seems to grind slowly towards a decision. (In my own case, 5 months to award IB which I was blatantly entitled to).
And, Sunny, people do recover from cancer – thankfully. Indeed, I’d have been long-gone in another decade as I’m on new antibody treatment. However, 50% don’t make the 5-year milestone so the stats say. Equally the therapy can do lasting damage where the treatment is severe. There are increasing numbers of cancer survivors. I’ve yet to beat the demon!
As to whether someone with a life-threatening illness should be prioritised is the only issue here which I shall leave hanging in the air. I, as you obviously now know, feel that they should. Thankfully, we’re all still at liberty to make our points heard. I wish you good health!0 -
Well if you don't think that the thread was v unpleasant then you have a thicker skin than me, as I felt it had a very nasty feel.0

Sorry about that Patch ...0
