Mobile phone security
Just got this tip. A little "get your own back" tip before you have your mobile stolen. To check your mobile's serial number, key in the following:
*#06#
A 15 digit code will appear, and this is unique to your handset. Keep the number safe somewhere. If the phone gets stolen you can phone your service provider and give them this number. They will then block your handset so that, even if a new sim card is put in, it'll be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. Just think, if everyone did this there would be no point in stealing them in the first place! :rotfl:

Yes, this is the IMEI number. It is also usually printed on the phone itself, under the battery. You may also see this detail on the box that the phone came in.
Also you can protect both the phone and/or the SIm card with PIN's. All these measures make it more difficult, but not impossible, for criminals.0
