That 3 yr warranty price is nearly 30% of the purchase price. There are plenty of companies who will sell you an aftermarket warranty for half that, if you really want one. Most TV's (like most electrical equipment) is pretty reliable these days, if there is a manufacturing fault then it's usually going to arise before the 1 year warranty is up. Beware-DSG make a huge slice of their profits by selling these overpriced warranties, don't let them get away with it.

Totally agree with macman, I'd definitely not be paying £169 for a warranty, that's robbery, especially at the purchase price.

Yes, of course you can, just Google 'extended warranty insurance'. Quite at random I just found one for LCD TV's for under £5 per month, i.e. £120 over 2 years. That's £50 less than DSG-and I'm sure you can buy cheaper than that-and you don't have to buy it for the first year. If you buy from DSG and the item develops a fault in the first year, you have paid out for something you would have got free from LG anyway.
Did you check what the excess is on that DSG warranty by the way?

couldn't see owt about an excess.so a 3 year warranty starts WHEN you buy the tv then does it? i was under the impression it started after the manufacturer's 1 year warranty was up

Yes, you have 30 days after purchase to buy it. So in effect you are buying a 2 year warranty, but paying for it a year before it commences...
Also I think that Coverplan gives them up to 6 weeks to fix it-do you want to be without it for that long?
I would check the price for the same model at JL, odds are they will match the price easily if the 5 yr warranty is taken into account.

bit off a rip off then.if it was me i'd rather have the manufacturer look at the tv within the first year.yea JL do have some good deals but like i said the person i'm buying for has to have LG and they don't sell them

Yes, I strongly agree with buying it from John Lewis. They have "Never knowlingly Undersold" so you can rest assured you are getting (or will get) THE cheapest price on the high street

No you can't , well not unless you get them to pricematch !

The keyword in their slogan is "knowingly"
