Advice on my Scenic paintwork
Comments
-
A few years ago i had a toyota corolla and left a bird dropping on the roof for a bit too long.
When i eventually cleaned it off, it left a mark that no amount of polish, elbow grease or specialist product could remove.
I think it took the top layer of lacquer off and that spot was then duller and less shiny than the rest. It never bubbled though.
Thnankfully it was only the size of an old 10p coin in the centre of the roof and only visible if you really looked for it.
Bird droppings can and do cause problems if left on paintwork for too long but i've never heard of "bubbling" being one of them.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -
I would have thought so but need to take it back over to the garage for them to look at. We did take out the all singing all dacing AA Gold Cover warranty (which we have already had to use for a tappit problem) but it only covers mechanical and electrical failure  .
Will let you know how we get on. Do you think this means there's definitely been a respray then? I am a little suspicious as there seems to be quite a few 'scuffs' and marks becoming apparent which weren't visible when we bought the car, and I know I haven't done
I have a similar problem with a Focus which I suspect was covered with a coloured polish prior to sale. Subsequent washings have removed the polish to reveal the scratches. Either that or Ford paint is rubbish.0 -
Your car could have sat for weeks with all sorts of muck on the roof before you bought it, as you haven't washed it yourself before you may not have noticed the problem till now.
And i agree about the bird poo problem, relation of mine didn't bother to clean off bird muck quickly they left it to cook in the sun, the bonnet now looks awful on a black BMW.
Maybe its only me, but i wouldn't let those supermarket/filling station cowboys within a mile of any vehicle i owned, do you know what chemicals they are using, when they last changed the water, what filth the car previous to yours had on it, and just how much grit could be contained in their sponges.
They maybe cheap (do they pay tax or are they dole/income support claimers) at the time, but did they cause your present problem?0 -
We have been in contact with the dealership and I have to take the car ove to them for inspection. Armed with my knowledge above I will fight my corner and let you know how I get on - thanks everyone.
G&S - lots of people I know use the supermarket people and it is a case of time constraints I am afraid that mean I have used the service rather than doing it myself. I will take your comments on board0
