They've taken off the rule that you must have a barclays account now and it still has the original no fee balance transfer offer 10mths 0% on balances and 3 mths 0% on purchases

  • I was told the same as bunking_off... BT only available at 6.9%... stood my ground and asked to speak to someone more senior... explained only applied for card to move a balance i was being charged interest on... was told that my account had the wrong "tag" on it and she would sort it out, when she told me it would take a week, i objected saying it was on their site, the reason i had applied for the account, and that their mistake was going to cost me money, she then offered me a credit of £45 and the promise to sort it out and phone me back. I have her name and will be following it up

ftpserv....I'm in a similar position. Spotted a couple of days after my initial exchange that the T&Cs that the card was glued to on arrival clearly stated 0% for 10 months. Rang them up and challenged them on it, and after approx 20 minutes waiting while they debated up the management chain, they came back saying it was an IT fault that they'd try to resolve next week. Interesting that you got some compensation - might try for that!

Until this get resolved, my complaint into the ASA stands. I might leave it in anyway, because I'd take a lot of convincing that all of this isn't intentional and they're banking on most people taking the 6.9%.
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
  • Been credited with £45 today :) the case i made to get it was... i only applied for their card becuase I was having issues with another bank and was looking to close the accounts and move over completely to Barclays, that the delay in transferring would unfairly cost me money, I was asked 1/ balance 2/ interest rate 3/ last payment... after a bit of quick thinking gave figure, 16.9% and only just paid, she then worked out a monthly rate and offered me £45.

Believe it or not i saw an advert today (ITV1 ealry afternoon) advertising the card and stating 0% for 10 months, so i would quote that.

Plus the offer is still on the web (although not on main site, you have to go via an indirect link)

So stick to your guns and insist on them honouring the offer, but i think it's an issue their end with the setup (computer) and they'll fix it.

I'm expecting to hear back tomorrow from them re the transfer

More advertising for this card in this mornings Metro, no mention of a balance transfer fee, I think i will go for it. Will apply for it through the http://www.0for10.co.uk/ website.

I've read through the small print on Barclaycard's offer and they do appear to offer the Balance Transfer without a fee. However, they do say that they reserve the right to refuse a balance transfer. Maybe this is how they intend to deter Stoozers. I must admit that Barclaycard seems to have a different offer every week. About 2 weeks ago they had an offer in my shopping centre at 12 months, 0%, with 2% transfer fee. Last week it was 10 months, 0%, with 2% transfer fee. This week 10 months, 0% and no transfer fee. Where next?

I can happily confirm that I've received my card and it is 10 months 0% on balance transfers, 3 months 0% on purchases and no handling fees :)

I checked with them when I phoned up to activate my card and was assured these are definitely the Ts & Cs. They haven't given me the best credit limit in the world but I'm happy.

    Hope this helps.

Same for me, asked to transfer a balance at 0% and they did it straight away. Also told me about the LOB rate at the same time.
