...and you have a Barclays current account - otherwise fees apply.

You don't have to have a barclays current account, I know it says your not eligible for fee free if you don't have a barclays current account but there's no checks in the application - as long as you don't click here when it says to (if you don't have a barclays current account).

Don't you think they check whether you actually *have* a Barclays bank account before issuing you with your T&C's and the card?

As soon as you click 'Apply', you are asked to confirm...

"I have a Barclays bank account (click here if not)"

If you want to risk an application then that's fine, but I'd just like to warn others reading this thread that the penalty for trying to defeat their application criteria is a 2.5% uncapped BT fee and 17.9% APR after the introductory period.

BTW, this is not a 'new' offer - it's been around for months. Many MSE's took advantage of the original offer when the 'apply via the Barclays site' loophole was identified last year. In fact so many took it up, Barclays closed the loophole and introduced the 'must have an account' clause.

Still a good deal if you have a barclays account!

Am I being dim? It wouldn't be the first time...

In the Summary Box it says that for Introductory Rate/Balance Transfers, "No handling fee". It does mention 2.5% further down, but I assumed that applied to BT's outside the promotional period.

Excuse my French, but Barclaycard are in fact an absolute bunch of f...ing crooks.

I applied for my card on Sunday, on a website which quoted 0% balance transfer for 10 months, 0% purchase for 3 months. The website was even 0for10.co.uk, and is still live here.

I got the card this morning - not my highest of credit limits, but fair enough. Just rang to activate it. No problem. Onto balance transfer : "Our rate is 6.9% life of balance, no charges". "What about the 0% deal?" , "Oh, that's been cancelled as it was too popular." "Ok, is the 0% for 3 months on purchases still active?" "No".

Martin, if you're reading this, fancy giving them a kick up the butt. I'm about to write to the ASA.

I also applied for this a few days ago. There was most definitely no mention of having to have an account with them and it clearly stated "no fees", 10 months 0% on BTs (+ a shorter period for purchases).

I shall report back when I hear from them....
    Waddle you do eh?

I too have applied, specifically to get 10 months 0% without transfer fee. I do have an account with Barclays, I wonder if I'll be treated differently.....
