Does anyone now of any free/in-expensive software to restrict access to only pre-approved sites.
My Daughter has a computer and as part of her 10th birthday present i want to install the internet on her computer (to try and keep her off mine!!!).
Does anyone know where i can get software that only allows access to sites i have OK'd?
I know of Netnanny cyberprotect etc, but these only block certain sites. I want to block all sites apart from ones i know are OK.
You can never be to careful these days!!!!

Any half decent PC firewall can do this. You set up a whitelist of approved websites (or IP addresses) and set the firewall to block all other access. Maintenance of the whitelist is password protected. This is what I do with my children's computers. Suggest you take a look at some free firewall software like Zonealarm, Kerio or Tiny, and see if you can use one of them.

I use Kerio at the moment (but the old version 2 with remote administration which was free back then).
If you are interested in the Netnanny type of program, Cybersitter has a whitelist facility. However, like other products of this nature, it has a master access list which is maintained by someone in the USA who may decide that even though you say a website is OK, they disagree and will block it. I would try the free firewalls first.0
