am I being unreasonable/unflexible?

He and Ex are being flexible and arranging things to suit them both, it's up to them to compromise between each other. If OH isn't happy to do the long drive then surely he can discuss this with Ex himself.
point taken
If you take on someone with four children then the children have to come first I'm afraid. You get the leftovers! You have to put your own two first and OH gets your leftovers! Eventually the children grow up and then you finally get some quality time!
I hear what you are saying, guess it is just me then...
I have no issues with having /accomodating the children but I refuse to fall into place with his ex when she is so flippin hopless at arrangements all the time, would be easier if the kids just lived with us and if we had the space I would suggest it!!!2007 £1749

I think if its a case where you are accommodating her because of her plans, then yes she should take the responsibility for organising their return.
As another poster said its about give and take.0 -

sometimes its easier to let things go rather than letting them eat at you and ruin your day0

My children live 2 hours away from their father and we tend to meet half way most of the time-so it's fair for all. My OH lives an hour or so away from his kids and they arrange easter and summer breaks at lleast 12 weeks in advance so that all parties can get organised.
Yes I agree it's what the children wants that counts but also both parents have to be fair to each other and put the children first-my ex and I don't get on but the children are paramount and we organise things to suit the kids-not by being disruptive or inconsiderate to one anothers plans.
Can't your partner come to some arrangement with his ex whereby they both agree to sort themselves out instead of last minute change? kids need stability-constant last minute changes is not giving them the stability they need
