Do I have to wait 39 weeks for mortgage help?

Hi.

i am a single parent of 2 children 3 and 5. I do not have a job and have recently applied for IS.

I have been reading some posts where they say they have to wait 39 weeks for help with the mortgage interest payments and am a little worried.

Hope someone can help.

    thanks

Is rthe 39 week rule only regarding sole income. My DH used to live here bu moved out in February. Would his income for the last year be taken into consideration re the 39 week rule?

Is the house solely in your name?

If not, and it is in joint, then you will only get 50% of the interest applicable, so for example, if your mortgage is £1000pm, £800 payable in interest, £200 in repayment, you would only receive £400pm to help towards the mortgage.

You would still have to find the £600 yourself if your ex was refusing to pay his share.

thew mortgage is in joint name :(

he has lost his job so no money there :( I didn't know about the joint mortgage thing but makes sense

trouble is if OH gets a job he need to pay maintenance but then if he pays maintenance (2 children)then I would not get IS.

In my opinion it is a good idea as it hinders the option of couples pretending to split up for financial gains just so they can get the state to pay for their mortgage.

If your ex (Not OH ;)) gets himself a new job he will have to pay CSA maintenance. If he is unemployed, how is he going to pay his half and the repayment part of the mortgage? Surely you are going to lose your home if there are no other sources of income coming in? How would you pay the full mortgage for the next 3months aswell until the 13wk deadline has passed?

If you were a couple who were both unemployed, then you would get the whole mortgage paid (Well interest portion anyway) Is there no chance of a reconciliation, or is it well and truly over? (None of my business that last part, infact none of it is, just querying, that's all)
