Digital Camera For Going Out Drinking With!?

Will be having a big night out soon and wanted to get a handful of cameras to hopefully get some photos to remember the night with!
Baring in mind we will be in bars/clubs I need:
1. Fairly cheap so that if it gets lost its/broken I can still sleep at night!
2. Decent enough to get a good quality photo in locations with low light so flash is a must.
3. I have a Nokia N95 phone so preferably something better than 5 Mega Pixels? (Unless that will be enough?)
I've had a quick look on the internet at the best prices I can find for the best quality cameras:
5 Megapixel - £29.99 - Vivitar V5010
Argos
7 Megapixel - £34.99 - Nikon Coolpix L16
- Face Detection (12 Faces)
- In camera Red Eye fix
Argos
8 Megapixel - £35.99 - Hitachi
-Red eye removal function available (was the main extra feature, but what does "available" mean ?)
-No face detection mentioned
Argos
9 Megapixel - £45.99 - Kodak C913
-Image stabilizer
eBuyer
Has anyone had any experience with these or have any better ideas/other cameras/cheaper elsewhere??
Thanks!

None of these are going to give very good photos, the phone ones will be awful, just look at the size of the lens.
Instead of buying several, why not spend 100+ on a decent compact, with a good flash and low light ability, like a Canon Powershot?
Don't get swayed by the number of megapixels, a tiny camera with tiny lens trying to resolve 9 megapixels is physically impossible due to light diffraction, the pictures won't be any better than that of a 6 megapixel camera.
Or buy a good one second hand from eBay with your budget if you are potentially going to lose it...

Get half a dozen Use Once cameras from any dealer/photo outlet, pre-paid developing inc and they have flash.0

oh really!?
can you get disposable camera photos made into digital copies at the developing shop?0 -
It's not so much the camera that's important on a night out, it's being just as drunk when you look back at the photos.
The more drunk you are the better the photo - and the memories will come flooding back.

Presumably then you can take pictures of your liver cirrhosis a few years down the line with it too, if the doctor allows0

My Canon Ixus 90 IS fits nicely into my pocket and takes great pictures. I'm happy taking it with me to pubs etc. However, I might hesitate to take it if I thought I was going to get seriously drunk...
Last time I was in PC World they had a few reasonable looking cameras in the clearance section for about £25-£30 - there were a couple of Olympus 7/8 MP compacts there. Just the cameras - no accessories or anything. Might be worth checking out.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
yeh the cost / fact of losing it has to be realised lol...
still not sure whether it would be better to get disposables and then SCAN them? or would the quality be better from a few cheaper digi cams!?
how many megapixels do you need to take liver cirrhosis photos? lol...?0 -

If you are that worried about losing them (and now I'm worried about your drinking habits!), then the disposables would be fine, most labs, even boots can scan the negs onto a CD for you for very little extra.
But a cheap digicam from eBay will be the same price as 5 or 10 disposables, and if you are careful, you'll take it home with you on the night!how many megapixels do you need to take liver cirrhosis photos? lol...?0 -
isofa is right in that none of the cameras you mention will give great shots.
Although the size of the lens isn;t really a factor - it's more the size of the sensor and the number of megapixels crammed onto it. Smaller sensors in cheaper cameras eg phones and tiny pocket size cameras have too many pixels squeezed onto them. It means that when an image is captured, there is lots of "noise" or grain. Basically your image looks very speckled. it's even worse in darker environments eg pubs, night time.
a 8mp cheap camera will give poorer shots than a 6mp digital SLR despite having higher resolution. That's because the SLR has a better lens and larger sensor with fewer pixels crammed in.
a slightly more expensive camera as suggested would give far superior images and you could keep it and use it for a good while after your night out.

Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -
Forget about megapixels, anything above 4 will be fine for anything you are going to use it for. Bigger doesn't mean better.poppy100
