Some motherboards suffered from cheap horrible caps about 2-3years ago. Motherboards died left, right and centre.......but as you have said yours is three years old so maybe it just had its day.

Good luck finidng a new mobo to fit your 32-bit CPU......... Not many out there now :(

Unplug the CPU from the motherboard and power up. If you get beeping then it usually means that the motherboard is working and telling you there is no CPU. Failing that, if you have a local computer shop, might be worth popping down there and seeing if they can help. They'll have spares they can try.

The Celeron will work in that board - but with a 400fsb. Its not a bad board if you want to pick up a cheaper P4 cpu in the future to upgrade - 3ghz ones are going quite cheaply now.

Then I'd guess it was the PSU - don't need to change your mobo or processor.

Run it with the new PSU for a while to make sure.

Before it stopped working did you upgrade your machine or add any components that might have increased the power demands?

    Woah, confusion.

I thought he meant, he tried the new psu in a different machine and it worked fine, but when trying it out in the broken machine it didn't work. In which case it's most definitely the motherboard. Is this the case?

When you tried the new psu in the broken machine, did it work ok?

OK so your broken machine is still broken? Sorry got confused.

I would say it's mobo then like the others have said. If it was CPU you would at least see something on screen saying it's screwed, or some beeps.
